This time I'm cosplaying the Magical Girl from Brown Dust 2, who is also the main hero I always talk about. To recreate this bright red-themed magical girl combat skirt, the fabric selection and pattern-making alone were adjusted back and forth several times. That glossy patent leather material needs to be under the lights to show the texture filled with magical energy just like in the game. The red and black bow at the neckline and the yellow ruffles on the shoulders are all custom handmade, maxing out the 3D effect.
The wig uses high-temperature synthetic fiber in a gradient orange-red. After layered trimming, it was permed to get a fluffy curl, which, combined with the large red bow on top, visually adds to the nimble and lively feel of the magical girl. The prop staff was custom-made by a prop master. The crystal ball at the top and the yellow ribbon binding completely replicate the original artwork. It has a moderate weight in hand, so it's not too tiring when striking poses. For makeup, the eyeshadow uses a matching orange-red color palette to bring out the spirit, and the lip color is a bright maple red to unify with the overall costume tone.
During the shoot, we specifically looked for this industrial-style background of the venue. The metal structures and glass reflections create a contrast of light and shadow, making the red costume pop and stand out even more. To take satisfying full-body photos, we adjusted many angles, and these two shots can be considered to have captured that confident yet slightly playful temperament of the magical girl. Participating in every single step of this Anime cosplay from scratch truly gives a huge sense of accomplishment. I hope to share this passion through the lens.
