This Qipao coordinate for Hanazuki underwent numerous fine-tunings from the sample stage to the final fit. The main body of the garment is made of white satin with golden floral embroidery across the chest and waist. Hollow cutouts at the neckline and waistline demand a very snug fit to the body. To achieve that graceful yet subtly alluring silhouette from the game, I carefully adjusted the inner foundations before the shoot to keep the lines sleek. The high slits of the Qipao gracefully reveal the thigh straps and White stockings garter belt, which were pinned securely to keep them from slipping.
The wig is pink; once it arrived, I layered and thinned out the ends to give it a lighter, airier flow. The hair accessories and headset combine red and gold, secured alongside the Fox ears atop my head using several bobby pins. Cyan contact lenses are crucial for character fidelity; paired with soft pink eyeshadow and finely defined lashes, the overall makeup was kept fresh and translucent. Both the Fox ears and the oversized plush tail were crafted from faux fur—fairly hefty, yet their natural fur texture looked remarkably tactile on camera.
For accessories, the red gloves were detailed with white ruffles, and the round silk fan held in my hand was accented with pink tassels. The pink heels featured golden bows at the toes, which, combined with the White stockings and ankle straps, visually elongated the leg lines. I also held small ornaments with pearl chains; though intricate, these nuances added richness to each composition.
The location featured an antique curio shelf, plum blossoms, and wooden lanterns, perfectly echoing the traditional Chinese style of the costume. Lighting required considerable thought, as an all-white and all-pink palette can easily overexpose under harsh lights. After several tests, we switched to softboxes and reflectors, preserving the delicate fabric weave while giving the skin a clear, luminous glow. In posing, I intentionally highlighted the contours of the legs—such as perching on the shelf with one leg raised, or half-kneeling while partially veiling my face behind the fan. To keep my gaze expressive, I focused on expression control, maintaining a serene yet subtly sly demeanor.
The final set achieved a high level of polish, with every stage—from garments and accessories to scene styling—requiring substantial dedication. Recreating 2D designs in real life demands constant balancing of fine details. Looking at the finished frames with their refined lighting and textile texture made all the exhaustion from standing in heels all day vanish. I hope this set faithfully conveys Hanazuki's distinctive charm.
