Looking back at the Day 2 photos, this set in Sakura's battle costume was shot in front of the venue's floor-to-ceiling glass windows. Preparing this outfit was quite intricate; even the night before, I was still tuning the inner structure of the dress. To give the lantern crinoline a fuller look, I added several layers of support inside, taking quite a while. The fabric is a lustrous pink satin—gorgeous to look at, but exceedingly delicate. It wrinkles and attracts dust very easily, so once at the convention hall, I moved with utmost care all day, trying my best not to crush the skirt hem for fear of leaving unsightly creases. The wig is blonde with dense fibers; I thinned it out and layered it at home in advance to achieve that fluffy anime effect. Before heading out, I spent considerable time styling it and refining the sideburn strands to frame my face properly. For eye makeup, having chosen prominent green colored contacts, the eyeliner needed to be drawn extra deep, and top and bottom lashes were applied with great care. The White stockings had been prepared well in advance; to prevent snags and dirt, I brought two extra pairs just in case. The accompanying shoes were pink chunky block heels adorned with bows. While pairing them with White stockings elongated the leg lines beautifully, heel blister issues were obvious, and walking around the convention for hours was genuinely punishing on my feet, forcing me to power through and walk slowly.
During the shoot, we specifically scouted a hallway along the outer venue with floor-to-ceiling glass. The natural light there was fantastic, streaming in diagonally in the afternoon with crisp translucency. Compared to harsh studio lighting indoors, this window light made skin tones look much softer. The photographer positioned me there because the cool greyish backdrop outside the window created a striking contrast between warm and cool tones, maximizing the vibrancy of the pink attire. Holding the long-handled pink wand was a significant challenge. Because the prop is long, maintaining an attractive pose required keeping overall body balance. At times I was asked to raise the wand high with one hand, and at other times hold it horizontally before my chest to extend the body's visual lines. The magic circle mat on the floor also required precision—stepping on it at an angle that avoided breaking the illusion while keeping the leg silhouette flattering took multiple trial angles to get right. Taking full-body shots demanded firmly flexing leg muscles to display clean, fluid lines alongside the White stockings and shoes.
Being Day 2 of the expo, the corridor saw heavy foot traffic. We often had to pause and wait for crowds to pass before pressing the shutter; although waiting took time, it was also a great chance to chat with fellow fans nearby. Many Cardcaptor Sakura fans who saw this pink battle costume approached for Taking photos with cosplayers at conventions, and everyone was incredibly warm. During shooting, I tried to manage my facial expressions, gazing into the lens with a slight upward tilt or a direct eye-level stare to add narrative depth to the imagery. The massive white bow on my chest loosened very easily, needing adjustment with almost every move; to guarantee good results, the photographer promptly reminded me to adjust the front and back ribbons. The green colored contacts paired with a focused gaze created a distinctive doll-like quality on camera. Wearing this setup all day brought aching in my back and waist, and my arm holding the wand grew intensely sore. Yet being able to cosplay a beloved character and meeting so many passionate fans on-site made all that hardship negligible. Sorting through the photos, the shots taken under natural light turned out far more vivid and authentic than expected—a wonderful keepsake from this Firefly ACG Expo journey.
