For this Qixi Valentine's Day Lux Part 2 event photo set, we put a lot of effort into the costume details. The laser texture of the costume looks exceptionally brilliant under the nighttime neon lights, especially the transparent iridescent accessories at the waist, which can refract light spots of different colors under flash fill light. The red-and-white color scheme and star elements of the headpiece are very classic, and the wig styling also tried its best to restore the fullness of the original artwork. The glowing heart prop on the chest is the visual center; to capture that crystal-clear yet bright effect in the night scenery, we tried hiding the light source inside the inner side of the clothing and, through multiple adjustments of the light's angle and brightness, achieved the evenly glowing state seen in the photos.
The shooting location was chosen at Foshan BGM No. 1 Street, where the intricate signs and streets carry a strong cyberpunk atmosphere, perfectly fitting the urban neon feel of this skin. Night portrait lighting is a severe test for photographers; teacher NightDiva used high-quality flashes combined with lenses of different focal lengths. Wide-angle lenses can capture the depth of the street, such as the photo with arms spread wide on the road where the 24mm focal length gives the whole scene great tension. Meanwhile, the 120mm telephoto lens was used to capture half-body close-ups, such as the one leaning on the railing, where the background lightboards were perfectly blurred into bokeh spots.
The cut of this costume is relatively short; to maintain aesthetics and safety during various large movements, I took thorough anti-wardrobe-malfunction measures underneath. The legs were paired with White stockings, with pink plush decorations at the ankles. This slouch sock design not only refines the leg shape but also creates a lazy and cute feel when bending knees or crossing legs. In the photo sitting on the taxi's hood, the crossed-leg posture nicely elongates the visual proportion, showcasing the draping feel of the stockings. The sideways sitting posture leaning against the red bench was meant to stretch the leg lines while utilizing the strong color contrast of the red bench to make the frame more eye-catching.
In expression management, I tried my best to keep myself in an energetic state with light in my eyes. Facing flashes and the complex street environment, focus had to be concentrated on lens performance. The bubble prop could be said to be an unexpected pleasant surprise; although making bubbles on site was a bit hectic, the colors refracted by the bubbles under the lighting greatly enriched the frame's layering. The entire shooting process required constant posture adjustments to ensure the ruffles and skirt hem of the clothing were in their optimal positions, which could be said to be a very meticulous shooting experience. As a player of League of Legends: Wild Rift, being able to cosplay this skin of Lux is extremely joyful. This Valentine's Day limited design is filled with sweet and dreamy colors, and the pink-and-white dominant tones actually test photography color reproduction severely at night. We specially chose a scene with optoelectronic effects, allowing the character's inherent girlishness and the urban nightscape to form a wonderful fusion. To improve efficiency, we prepared small fans on-site to prevent the wig from sticking to the face under high temperature and affecting the makeup, and makeup retouching tools were also prepared. During shooting breaks, to keep leg muscles relaxed, I would also do some simple stretches on the bench to ensure the best leg lines and stocking-wearing state could be showcased in the next shot. Every press of the shutter represents relentless pursuit of character fidelity.
