The schedule for the Guangzhou Firefly ACG Expo New Year anime convention has wrapped up, and this time I cosplayed Priestess from Arknights. Preparing for this cosplay started two months in advance: for the white shirt, I specifically selected a structured pure cotton fabric with moderate stiffness so it would drape crisply without wrinkling easily. Fabricating the necktie was also quite time-consuming—searching for that semi-translucent material took a long time, and in the end, I used custom transparent film accented with crystal embellishments, achieving a texture very faithful to the original design. The long straight black wig was cut and styled by myself, complete with a headband and see-through air bangs, fixed with generous styling spray to ensure it wouldn't get disheveled in the crowded convention hall. The purple colored contacts were worn for hours, making the gaze appear crisp and translucent under the venue lights.

Waking up at 6:00 AM to start makeup, I ran into fellow cosplayers also portraying Arknights characters on the way to the venue; we touched up our makeup together and chatted extensively about capturing character details. Upon arriving at the hall, because the costume is predominantly white, the strong overhead lighting in the venue rendered skin tones very clear and luminous. The first selfie had my hands resting in front with a slightly diagonal angle, while the second was taken in front of an orange wall with a centered, dignified composition, which is why I chose the second one as the cover image.

Throughout the venue today, I encountered many Terra creatures—some in mascot suits and others holding plush props. Seeing Priestess, everyone was super welcoming and took photos together. While touching up makeup in the rest area during the afternoon, I realized the eyeliner needed to be drawn thicker to withstand convention lenses washing out makeup, and false lashes needed to be comfortable without poking the eyes—only with attentive details do photos turn out stunning. Although wearing this clean white shirt looks understated and elegant, it allows effortless mobility. I also discussed composition with the photographers on site, utilizing the venue's steel-truss ceiling as a background to establish an expansive perspective depth for our Convention photography.

After wrapping up several photo sets midway, I went around exploring other exhibition booths. In summary, cosplaying minimalist, solid-colored characters at a convention hinges on the crispness of the garments, the sleek smoothness of the wig, and the refined precision of the eye makeup—even without extravagant props, it can stand out brilliantly. By evening, packing the wig into its net, placing the tie back into its box, and packing my gear, though exhausting throughout, feeling the lively atmosphere on site made it deeply fulfilling—truly a wonderful New Year anime convention experience.
