For this shoot, I chose Sigewinne cosplay from Genshin Impact. The ensemble is predominantly blue and white, harmonizing exceptionally well with the blue corrugated metal backdrop and giant white cup at the Luckin Coffee store. With ample sunlight on the day of the shoot, the outdoor textures came out delightfully clear and luminous.
Because it features a large starry-gradient tail and delicate antler headwear, getting dressed and grooming took considerable time. For the wig, I selected a silver-white tone with bluish undertones, using styling spray on the ends to sculpt slightly upturned layers. To create lively, dewy eyes, the eye makeup utilized coarse glitter to highlight the aegyo sal, paired with light-tinted contacts to enhance translucency. The fabric of this maid outfit is a cotton blend with just the right crispness, perfectly balancing a cinched waistline with tiered ruffled pleats along the hem.
In terms of posing direction, I specifically coordinated with the photographer to leverage the elevation change of the stairs to elongate leg lines. Sitting on the steps leaning slightly back while holding the cup with both hands showcased flattering leg contours and the White thigh-highs outfit paired with leather shoes—which became the cover photo pose everyone sees. Additionally, poses like standing on one leg or leaning against the pickup window were meant to simulate realistic queuing and ordering moments. Running around with paper bags during the shoot made the tail and petticoat somewhat unwieldy, but capturing dynamic angles demanded repeated tweaks.
Although shooting in advance meant missing the official rollout of the latest Genshin Impact and Luckin Coffee collaboration—making it a small regret that I couldn't frame this blue-and-white maid dress alongside the actual co-branded cups—scouting the location early and capturing this color harmony served as a wonderful keepsake. After all, as a character, Sigewinne inherently embodies a gentle healing presence, and the crisp blue-and-white aesthetic of Luckin Coffee brought out the pure, clean maiden innocence of this costume to its fullest. During the shoot, the giant prop cup and background created superb visual anchors, giving the frame rich fullness.
The shoot itself was quite fun. Capturing this style in an authentic commercial street requires overcoming a bit of awkwardness when passersby pause to look, yet that immersive atmosphere actually helped me channel the character even better. In Cosplay photography makeup, to faithfully recreate her style, subtle highlighter was added to the forehead and cheeks to reflect a soft, plush feel. Post-retouching focused primarily on preserving natural skin texture without excessive liquifying, aiming to provide a natural, pleasant viewing experience. Sharing this shoot is fundamentally about documenting the dedication poured into the character and the sheer joy experienced along the way.
