These Altria Saber Alter convention photos, shot on June 22, 2024 at the Heatwave Anime Expo, exceeded my expectations by far. The venue was extremely crowded that day; we walked around several times just to find a relatively open background and nearly missed our outdoor shooting window. Preparing this costume was quite an elaborate process—the royal blue velvet fabric looked rich and textured under the lights, and the silver-white embroidery patterns on the skirt were custom-designed after gathering extensive reference materials. It took a long time to style the white wig to achieve a look that was both voluminous and natural, and the bun on top along with the large ribbon on the back required repeated angle adjustments to secure firmly. For makeup, I specifically chose pink-toned red contacts and eyeshadow paired with a cool porcelain-fair base to recreate the character's signature cold, intimidating aura. The prop greatsword was genuinely heavy—holding it while posing made my shoulders ache terribly, but to convey a sense of effortless mastery, I gritted my teeth and held through. During the shoot, I paired the outfit with black over-the-knee stockings and long gloves alongside slender-heeled black pumps that rose above the ankle, making my legs ache after standing for nearly an hour. The photographer was very patient and maintained high standards for lighting and angles; we took around a dozen shots of the backward glance before selecting the most satisfying one, aiming to precisely capture an aura that combined lethal menace with refined elegance. After finishing this shoot, I gained a deeper understanding of Saber Alter's suppressed power and aloof, haughty temperament. Even though the shoot was exhausting, bringing a beloved character to life made the entire process incredibly rewarding. This outdoor shoot gave me a wealth of experience and showed me where I can improve my body language; if time permits in the future, I would love to shoot other outfits featuring this character design.
