This shoot features Cyrene from Honkai: Star Rail. The overall styling mainly revolves around a pink and purple dreamlike visual concept. Because the post description carries the theme "Ripples of the Past," I also wanted to express a soft and narrative state as much as possible during the shoot.
First is the hair and makeup part. For the base makeup, I chose a cool-toned white foundation to neutralize any uneven skin tones, better matching the character's clear, cool, and detached temperament. The eye makeup was the focus this time; to fit the character's traits, I selected light purple colored contacts with a slightly larger diameter and a hazy feel. Pink-purple was spread over a large area of the upper eyelid, and the same color scheme was emphasized and blended onto the lower eyelid. Paired with a well-defined aegyosal and distinct lower lashes, the eyes look exceptionally spirited while carrying that unique Anime-style makeup innocence. For the hair, the pink wig underwent layered wig styling with a moderate bangs thickness and a subtle gradient at the hair tips. To add extra details, I placed tiny pearl embellishments on the sidelocks and the top of the head, creating a beautiful shimmering bokeh effect under natural light.
Looking at the costume, the base color of this cosplay outfit is pure white, complemented by light blue and light purple flowers as well as hollowed-out lace details. There is a ring of soft ruffles at the neckline, with a three-dimensional light purple flower right at the center, which is highly eye-catching. The sleeves and arm sections adopt a detached design, where the hollowed-out lace with geometric patterns echoes the dimensional flowers at the wrists, making the overall color transition extremely gentle. Because the outfit contains quite a lot of stiff white materials along with heavily layered decorations around the neck, it caused significant restrictions during actual wearing and movement, especially with lifting my arms. To balance this constraint, I intentionally adjusted the position of the seatbelt during the in-car shoot, utilizing the beige seats and leather interior as a background, creating a contrast between the gorgeous costume and the casual riding scene, which also feels more natural.
This group of photos was shot inside a car cabin, where natural light streams through the car window, adding a touch of daily-life atmosphere to the originally ethereal styling. Different from the soft-focus feel brought by studio lighting, the light inside the car is more realistic, direct, and dynamic. During the shoot, I gripped the seatbelt with one hand, utilizing its diagonal line to break the flat straightness of the frame while allowing my posture on the seat to present a relatively relaxed state. My gaze didn't deliberately look at the lens but looked out the window toward the left, maintaining a slightly dreamy sense of vision, which perfectly fits the character's gentle, tranquil, and seemingly contemplative atmosphere.
Since the original intention of this shoot was to record my own understanding of this Honkai: Star Rail character, the coordination between the wig styling, makeup, and attire underwent repeated attempts and adjustments. Especially the fixation of the wig and the handling of stray hairs, as well as the placement angle of the flower at the neckline—these seemingly minor details directly determined the texture presented in the final photos. Preparing a good cosplay work is not as simple as just putting on clothes; it requires as much restoration in the details as possible to give the character more vitality. I hope this share with a touch of a daily snapshot feel can allow everyone to experience the refinement of this styling and the inner softness of the character.
