Just an inadvertent glance at you, and I decided I had to record this Medium5 look for Stardust.

The layering and material contrast of this outfit drew me in right away. The inner piece is a purple satin dress, which shifts with an exquisite glossy sheen under the lights. The white shrug and gold piping on the outside add to the overall three-dimensional shape. The black geometric accessories and the magenta gemstone at the chest are the crowning touches; to keep these ornaments in place, I tested their placement several times before the shoot. For the wig, I chose silver-white long straight hair infused with subtle shimmer; styling a natural twin-tail look took some dedicated effort to tame flyaways and build up volume. Long white gloves were chosen to flatter the arm lines nicely, while black knee-high boots tied in seamlessly with the overarching Stage style.

The shooting location was set on outdoor stairs lined with neon light strips at night. Photographer @鱼 put a great deal of thought into the lighting setup, as we experimented with intense backlighting and rim lighting. While this lighting approach demands a lot from skin condition and fabric texture, it brilliantly carves out silhouette edges and generates that glowing stage presence. To match the lighting, I adapted my makeup as well, wearing amber cosmetic contacts to sharpen the eyes' focus and applying deeper shading around the eyes.

In terms of posing and expressions, holding the microphone allowed me to channel the feeling of singing live on stage. At times I shaded my brow with a hand to gaze out at the distant stage, bowed my head to immerse in the musical emotion, or rested a hand on my hip facing the lens with confidence. I also tried a playful wink in this series, hoping to bridge the distance with the viewer.

In between, we captured a quieter series—sitting beside the staircase railing, leaning against string lights, and cradling a glowing glass jar in my hands. The warm yellow glow contrasted against the deep blue nightscape behind, shifting the mood from earlier extroversion into quiet gentleness.

For post-processing color grading, I strove to preserve the richness of the magenta tones and their contrast with the warm background lights, giving the skin delicate texture while maintaining the sculptural depth of light and shadow. Avoiding heavy manipulation, the goal was to authentically recreate the genuine atmosphere of light and shadow from that moment. The vision was brought to life, and that's a wrap!
