At the Arknights-only convention "Jian Wu Ying Hua" in Changsha, I truly got a full taste of what it feels like to be completely battle-ready. Answering everyone's calls, I came as the Doctor's guard! During the initial test fitting, I was already looking forward to this ensemble, but wearing it in person proved the craftsmanship was far more intricate than imagined. The top features a sleeveless black high-neck compression fit, layered beneath an outer jacket styled with gray reflective strips and a plush fur collar. Although the fur collar was a bit warm inside the bustling convention hall, keeping it on throughout was essential for the visual impact.
The tactical harnesses and thigh garters form the heart and soul of this coordinate. Fine-tuning the black straps on my thighs took quite a while: they had to cinch tightly enough to sculpt sharp lines without restricting movement, all while lying completely flat without twisting. Paired with black shorts and chunky platform combat boots, the overall techwear aesthetic aligned seamlessly with the lore. Because the character naturally radiates a cool, collected stoicism, the day's makeup emphasized vivid red lips and deepened eye contours; after layering the wig, the side hair ornaments were firmly locked in place using styling hairspray and bobby pins to keep them from budging amidst the dense crowd.
What I want to talk about most is this colossal weapon prop. Its dimensions are immense, featuring a massive circular mechanical assembly at the base finished with a matte black coat and crisp white pinstripes. For the shoot, I had to hold the weapon upright using either one or both hands before the lens. Frankly, the prop was exceptionally heavy and its center of gravity was tricky to balance. In the second photo, where I sat on a folding chair with legs crossed, maintaining an upright torso while firmly supporting this giant weapon required immense physical exertion—my core had to stay locked to project that poised, effortless aura of an elite bodyguard.
Lighting across the convention floor was notoriously chaotic, so huge credit goes to photographer WiFi. Working around the complex ambient sources, the photographer utilized background fill lights and softboxes to frame flattering angles, carefully cutting out visual clutter from the crowd to sculpt striking three-dimensional presence in the space. Whether crouching with the weapon braced horizontally across my front or sitting to highlight the strap details along my legs, the captured play of light and shadow carried remarkable texture.
I met so many passionate Doctors throughout the day, exchanging thoughts on lore details and weapon design. While the gear undeniably brought mobility constraints—thigh straps catching when squatting and the oversized prop risking bumps with passersby in narrow aisles—bringing such a sharp, tactical, and cool persona to life made every preparation thoroughly worthwhile. Each press of the shutter is a tangible manifestation of the character's charm.
