[Marin Kitagawa cosplay] My Dress-Up Darling: Refreshing Poolside Swimsuit Photo Diary

For this outdoor poolside shoot of Marin Kitagawa from My Dress-Up Darling, we chose the outdoor pool area at 28-Degree Living Water Pavilion. The venue is naturally anchored in pastel pink hues, harmonizing effortlessly with the giant pink heart-shaped hot air balloon in the background. To capture Marin's signature blend of bubbly exuberance and playful sensuality, I prepared extensively for the makeup and styling. Pink eyeshadow paired with vibrant pink lenses served as the soul of the look, while a blonde wig with soft pink dip-dyed gradient tips displayed rich chromatic dimension under direct sunlight. Accented with yellow floral hair clips and pink sunglasses, the styling achieved complete, cohesive polish.

The weather that day was brilliantly sunny with abundant ambient light. For outdoor aquatic shoots, midday sun easily casts harsh shadows, yet it also delivers extraordinary color clarity and translucency. Wearing a semi-sheer white cover-up over denim shorts in the summer heat heavily tested my endurance. To avoid rigid framing, I incorporated continuous interaction with the water surface and set props. The yellow rubber duck proved an exceptionally versatile accessory: whether held in hand or floating along the ripples, it made every gesture feel effortless and organic. For instance, when sitting in the shallow splash zone, shifting body weight onto the hips while curling and overlapping the legs to one side effectively elongated leg proportions. In the frames interacting with the rubber duck, I refrained from staring directly down the lens, gazing casually at the toy instead to catch spontaneous, authentic vivacity. Deep squats likewise tested core stability; perching at the water's edge while adjusting my sunglasses, keeping one knee angled slightly higher toward the camera created diagonal lines that visually lengthened the legs. Photographer @西瓜撞地球5775 offered superb compositional direction, using telephoto focal compression to pull the hot air balloon and sky closer, suffusing the frame with a sun-soaked summer vacation atmosphere.

Water reflections functioned as an organic bounce fill, keeping facial planes luminous without needing bulky reflector boards. Even so, shooting under intense glare demands sharp facial muscle control; loosening focus even slightly risks looking drained. I mentally channeled Marin's boundless, infectious cheer to keep facial muscles energized. For the seated edge shots, letting both legs dangle into the pool, hugging my knees, and angling my torso softly toward the lens while tracking the incoming light was one of my most practiced poses—relaxed yet flattering to bodily curves. The Beach Star theme centers on this effortless resort ease, requiring natural flow over stiff posturing.

The entire shoot was physically demanding, especially executing frequent posture transitions in the water. The pink tiles of the pool reflected a flattering glow under the sun, functioning as an unexpected natural beauty fill that made skin tones appear radiant and fair. Looking at the finished edits, the cerulean sky, pink pool tiles, crisp white blouse, and vibrant crimson balloon collided in flawless visual balance. Whenever I do cosplay, I immerse myself in the character's psyche beforehand; Marin's confident, radiant personality empowered me to explore dynamic angles boldly.
