[Hoshimi Miyabi cosplay] Zenless Zone Zero: Unbreakable Order

The Convention photos for this Hoshimi Miyabi cosplay at the Zhongshan AS Anime Convention are finally ready! Reviewing the composition and details in these frames made all the meticulous prep and running around on the day feel completely worthwhile. The photos were captured live by photographer 'Waiting in Midsummer' (在盛夏等待). The lighting inside the venue was quite complex, with high-intensity overhead grid lights easily causing lens flare, but fortunately the final images carry an intense sense of presence and narrative depth.

The preparation for this Anime cosplay was actually quite challenging. What took the most effort was this teal-green loose coat over the white shirt and black tie; to match the character's uniform workwear aesthetic, I specifically adjusted the belt fastening and shoulder strap placement. A black pleated miniskirt paired with a Black tights outfit and chunky ankle boots created a striking high-contrast black-and-white pairing, which, combined with vivid red contacts, gave the eyes a much sharper gaze. Furthermore, for the long black hair and ear headpiece, the smoothness of the hair and the structural support of the ears underwent multiple rounds of testing.

On the convention floor, to capture poses that convey the character's imposing aura, I experimented with numerous low-stance postures. For instance, the shot kneeling on one knee with a long sword pointing backward tested my balance and arm strength considerably, as the sword was quite heavy. Another low-stance split pose was meant to express a fierce sense of real combat readiness. Although wearing boots and a miniskirt made large movements tricky, relying on leverage against the prop allowed me to achieve just the right balance. I must also thank the professionalism of photographer 'Waiting in Midsummer', who quickly found the optimal composition and lighting angles amidst the bustling convention crowds to freeze that sharp, commanding aura in the frame.

The fabric texture of this costume is also fantastic. The drape of the teal coat is excellent, creating natural folds when sitting or crouching, while the mechanical gauntlet with red accents on the arm reflects varied textural highlights under the light. Whether it is the collar with yellow color-blocking, the ID tag on the chest, or the yellow tassels hanging from the waist, every element refines unnecessary clutter while preserving the character's core traits with utmost detail.

For props, I chose a custom stylized long sword; the cord-wrapped hilt and crossguard structure, paired with serrated serrations, provided an outstanding visual centerpiece. Once the full gear was assembled, it turned heads everywhere across the convention floor, with multiple passersby asking for photos together.

The biggest difference between Convention photos and studio shoots lies in environmental unpredictability—with backgrounds filled with fellow attendees and booths, being able to isolate the subject through lighting and focal length in such a dynamic setting proves the photographer's solid snapshot skills. Completing this shoot deepened my understanding of the character; this cool, sleek styling resonated remarkably well with the expansive industrial-style venue, creating a visual sensation as if breaking through the dimensional wall.
