[Shinano Cosplay] Shenzhen Azur Lane Only Photo Return: A Commander's Return Log After 3 Years of Retirement

The photo return from the Shenzhen Azur Lane Only event is finally organized! Being able to gather together at the venue and leave behind so many precious photographic memories is truly meaningful. As an old commander who had been retired for three years, returning to the game this time left me deeply awed by the exquisite portrayals from all the creators on site.

First, let's talk about my own Shinano cosplay. This sparkling gown in a blue-to-white gradient paired with a large plush collar is visually magnificent. To match the character design, I carefully styled the silver-white wig with airy bangs and wore azure-blue contact lenses. When shooting, holding a microphone and posing for seated close-ups under indoor lighting was all about capturing that light, airy, and slightly lazy stage presence. Securing the wig and animal ears was a major task relying on bobby pins and adhesive, but fortunately, the final shots turned out very natural.

The other cosplayers on site were also incredible. Xiuxiu Cat's St. Louis cosplay left a deep impression on me: her long light purple hair paired with a vintage black-and-white mini top hat, a black leather corset, and a white plush stole perfectly showcased mature and elegant charm. Her Black stockings cosplay combined with chunky high heels delivered a sharp, effortlessly sexy temperament. Her crossed-leg pose sitting on a wooden chair captured the angle and light so well that I chose it as the cover photo because the composition was exceptionally textured.

Furthermore, the Kashino Cosplay was delightfully charming, featuring brown animal ears, a white ruffled maid dress with an oversized bell, and horned hairpieces accented with purple ribbons for rich detail. The blue-haired Tashkent styling was also instantly recognizable, pairing a silver shimmering gown with a pink-and-white plush shawl to convey both winter warmth and lively playfulness. Group photos and interactions were filled with relaxed joy, capturing a true ACG family feeling.

During shooting, we made use of various set props, including vintage wooden chests, desk lamps, and dried flowers. The lighting was kept soft to highlight fabric textures: Shinano's subtle dress shimmer, St. Louis's glossy leather finish, and Tashkent's sparkling silver fabric were all rendered beautifully on camera. Despite the hard work of posing and moving props, the sense of fulfillment when freezing the desired frame was second to none.

Returning to the game now feels like the absolute right decision. The vitality of the convention and the atmosphere of discussing characters and sharing photoshoot insights offline are unmatched online. Being away for three years let me discover many new faces while reminiscing about classic ones. This photo return marks a wonderful milestone—not only paying tribute to classic characters, but also reaffirming my past passion. Whether for cosplay or Azur Lane itself, as long as the nostalgia remains, the passion lives on.
