In Azur Lane, Dashan, as a member of the Sakura Empire faction, always carries a gentle, sacred, yet slightly playful aura around her. This time, I decided to turn her "praying shrine maiden bunny" look into reality. This is not just a simple wardrobe change, but an exploration and recreation of the character's inner temperament.
The overall costume adopts a large expanse of red and white color-blocking, and the deep V-cut not only matches the character's original setting but also visually elongates the neckline. The white collar and cuffs are embellished with hollowed-out lace details, paired with wide water sleeves to bring a full sense of flowing elegance when moving around. The parts that took the most effort were the bow tie at the waist and the red thin bands wrapped around the ankles; though these details are tedious, they are keys to restoring the character's soul. Paired with a set of fluffy white rabbit ears headpiece and a red bead necklace symbolizing shrine dedication, the entire shrine maiden cosplay bunny look stood firm.
To closely resemble the 2D character, I specially paired it with brown long double braids, plus thin airy bangs, creating a gentle, lovely, and innocent feel. For the makeup, the emphasis was placed on the red eyeshadow and lip color, making the gaze look both pure and bearing a touch of cool divinity, echoing the identity of a shrine maiden.
The scene setup for this shoot was done very thoughtfully: pure wooden Japanese shoji doors, vermilion torii elements and pillars, scattered hanging white prayer wooden tablets, and pink cherry blossom branches blooming in the corner together constructed a highly immersive shrine interior scene. Regarding props, the red oil-paper umbrella is painted with lifelike white cranes and auspicious clouds, serving not only as the crowning touch of the frame but also adding a bit of dreamlike Eastern color.
During the shoot, the photographer and I experimented with a great number of camera positions and movements. When the fog machine started, and the swirling white smoke spread across the wooden frames and lanterns, the entire space felt as if it were truly enveloped by a certain barrier, becoming more ethereal and tranquil. I either stood amidst it arranging the sheer tulle hemline or sat cross-legged on a purple plush cushion lightly stroking a fox mask. Especially when holding that fox mask with a white base and red patterns, the half-concealed, half-revealed feeling gave the frame a few more touches of supernatural coloration.
Although this styling isn't particularly complex in structure, because there are many bindings and excessively long light tulle, it required constantly adjusting postures and standing positions during the shoot to ensure every angle looked dynamic enough. Stepping barefoot onto the soft cushion, feeling the friction between the fabric and skin alongside the cool sensation of the smoke brushing past the ankles, made it feel as if I truly crossed the dimension to experience the daily routine of being a Sakura Empire shrine maiden. I hope everyone can feel my full sincerity toward this character through this anime cosplay photo set.
