[Marie Rose Cosplay] Azur Lane Summer Pool Party: Let's Splash with Marie!

I finally got to shoot this swimsuit look for Marie Rose, choosing the outdoor pool set at Wuhan Liangbing Puzi studio where the daytime light was exceptionally transparent, perfectly matching the envisioned summer seaside vibe. This custom dark halter one-piece swimsuit features a red bow trimmed with lace along the neckline, with white ruffles at the waist cleverly echoing the black-and-white leg straps. Although the design leans slightly modest, the tailored fit naturally showcases the waistline and leg contours. To recreate the character's light blonde twin-tails, the wig required extensive styling beforehand—especially the black satin ribbons on both sides, which needed constant adjustments during the shoot to prevent them from being tousled by the wind or shifted by the swim ring.

I prepared several props before shooting: the blue-and-white striped swim ring was an inflatable prop that immediately added vacation vibes, while the massive yellow-green animal pool float took up quite a bit of space but made an excellent background accent and lounger by the pool's edge. Propping my face in my hands while lying on it, captured from a slightly high angle, created a very storytelling visual. The studio was also decorated with a round glass table and wood-grain decking, displaying colorful drink and beverage bottles that served as natural interactive props, making it feel like a genuine summer party.

Regarding lighting, I communicated with the photographer to avoid over-softening the image, preserving the natural highlights and shadows of direct sunlight on the skin for outdoor realism, while using a wide aperture to blur the background's white railings and greenery so the subject popped completely. For standing poses, holding the swim ring with one hand while tilting my head slightly, or tucking it sideways against my waist, highlighted the lightness of the swimwear look. When seated, I casually leaned against the pool tiles or wooden deck with legs naturally extended forward, combining different hand gestures—shading my eyes from the sun, raising a drink bottle, or resting my chin on my hands—so each frame captured a distinct emotion.

Being barefoot throughout the shoot meant my soles naturally picked up water droplets, which actually added authentic realism and matched the refreshing coolness of the shoot. Post-processing did not over-slenderize the body, focusing instead on unifying color grading, softening highlight roll-off to keep the blue-and-white tones clean, and retaining natural skin texture. Moving and adjusting that bulky, slippery pool float by the water was exhausting, but the final Anime-style photography made all the effort worthwhile.

Fine costume details like the neckline's red bow and the ruffled trims were rendered crisply on camera.
