[Kaigetsu cosplay] Azur Lane – The Guardian Holding a Greatsword Is Now in Position

This time I challenged myself with Kaigetsu from Azur Lane, a character that has amazed me since her design was first revealed. The entire costume is richly layered; the fabrics in black, white, and blue are interwoven, and with those exquisite metal ornaments and vine-like blue straps, it actually feels much heavier to wear than it looks. Especially the flowing blue semi-translucent cape on the back—to create a sense of fluid movement during the shoot, we repeatedly adjusted the angle many times. The wig features long straight blonde hair, and the blue-and-white headpiece on top of the head along with the elf ears immediately maxes out the fantasy vibe of the entire look. To recreate the character's elegant yet sharp temperament, I specifically practiced sword-holding stances—that orange-yellow greatsword has a solid feel. Although the prop itself isn't particularly heavy, maintaining a straight, upright posture while holding the sword with one hand for a long time was quite a test for my core strength. The shoot location that day was a studio with a classical European style, where the white Roman columns and dark patterned carpet perfectly matched Kaigetsu's cool and noble aura. The light and shadow hit the metal components of the costume, creating a wonderful reflective effect. The entire cosplay photography session lasted about three hours, during which I changed into several different poses. From the understated nuance of a kneeling pose to the commanding presence of a standing stance, every shot aimed to capture the core essence of the character. Especially the final shot with the sword—I feel the coordination between the gaze and the body lines completely met my expectations. Although some details, such as the tightness of the straps on the feet and the rings on the hands, still need a bit of adjustment, the overall presented effect left me quite satisfied with this game character recreation. Every time I do a cosplay, it's actually a dialogue with the character. Being able to put on Kaigetsu's clothes and stand in front of the camera this time felt truly wonderful. I hope the photos allow everyone to feel the unique beauty of this character, adding a splendid stroke to my cosplay portfolio.
