To faithfully recreate Niizuki's (Niizuki cosplay) aura from Azur Lane (Azur Lane) this time, I did plenty of homework on the wardrobe and props. This deep navy-blue floral kimono is actually a modified cropped design; the fabric boasts a wonderful drape, and the printed pink and white blossoms look remarkably dimensional under natural daylight without feeling overly busy. The oversized baby-blue bow at the waist along with the large golden bells at the collar and obi belt serve as the soul accessories—the bells sway gently as I walk, producing a crisp, delicate jingle. For the wig, I selected long, straight, pale-golden locks with blunt bangs, trimming subtle tiers while smoothing down the crown volume so the plush fox ears would blend seamlessly, immediately evoking that quiet yet spirited charm. The blue floral hair ornament on the side is accented with golden tassels, which flatteringly frame the facial contour.
The katana in hand was custom-made: its pure white scabbard trimmed with gold contrasts cleanly against the navy-blue palette, while the hilt wrapping materials were chosen for authentic tactile grip, feeling satisfyingly hefty in the palm. Because the kimono features a cropped silhouette, styling the lower half was paramount. I opted for over-the-knee White stockings (White stockings), deliberately adding red knot cords and tassel garter rings at the tops to echo the upper garments and enrich visual layering, making the absolute territory ratio effortless to calibrate during shooting. Staging in an authentic Japanese garden—surrounded by lush greenery, rustic stone lanterns, and raked karesansui gravel—lent tremendous organic texture to each frame without needing heavy post-processing.
While shooting, to align with Niizuki's persona, I kept choreography restrained rather than executing sweeping sword swings—mostly perching gracefully on stone steps with both hands resting over the katana. Seated poses require keeping the spine erect while dropping the shoulders to avoid looking stiff. Angling the thighs slightly three-quarters simultaneously displayed the smooth texture of the White stockings (White stockings) while drawing the viewer's eye toward the blade and facial expression. For the gaze, I aimed for focused calmness with a subtle hint of cool detachment, tucking the chin slightly when looking directly into the lens. When sunlight filtered through canopy foliage, the dappled highlights across my profile looked gorgeous; capturing those candid moments yielded the most organic results, with the photographer constantly encouraging me to stay relaxed. The shoot felt like quietly building a character's living ambiance—harmonizing every accessory with the rhythm of my breath. Under the quiet glow of moonlight within this serene courtyard, I hope this side of Niizuki resonates with all of you. Packing up the gear after wrapping and looking over the complete styling made all the preparation feel truly worthwhile, and I look forward to presenting even better work next time.
