When photographing the Wuthering Waves character Qingxiao, the overall atmosphere was built around the theme of the Canglan gathering. The entire shoot was captured using a Fujifilm X-S20; its straight-out-of-camera cool color science matched the blue-and-white ensemble perfectly, especially against the backdrop of snow-white floral trees, capturing the aloof blue translucence befitting a sword immortal. The costume was the centerpiece of the styling: multiple layers of airy sheer fabric combined with intricate metal accents and embroidery meant being exceptionally mindful of how the hem draped during movement to preserve its fluttering flow. Showing off the layered garment required deliberate posing adjustments. Pairing the short skirt with over-the-knee White stockings demanded clean lines while maintaining tasteful proportions, testing balance and leg tension.
Staged beneath white blossoming trees under faint nighttime cool lighting, an ethereal, mystical aura emerged naturally. Capturing the sheer skirt catching the wind took multiple takes to nail crisp shutter timings. Qingxiao's aloof yet valiant aura had to be channeled through the eyes and subtle finger gestures. With wide sleeves, stiff hands would look clumsy, so I adopted soft poses touching the chin or extending a hand toward the camera, utilizing forearm ribbons to add dynamic flair. Headpieces required precise chin angles to align metallic sheens with facial contours. Makeup accentuated cool-toned eye shadows with defined contact lenses to sharpen the gaze. Testing full-body angles showed that a three-quarter stance elongated the leg silhouette best, highlighting the stockings' sheen and fabric draping alongside a handheld scroll. Thanks to the Fujifilm X-S20's rendering of blue tones, post-processing was minimal, yielding an ethereal, immersive cosplay result.
