Shooting this Sankarea: Undying Love cosplay photoshoot was actually a plan set when the Endless Summer Hydrangeas were blooming at their peak. Because the work itself carries a cold and solemn temperament, yet mixed with a girl's sense of youth, we ultimately chose a large patch of lush hydrangea bushes as the scene. The green leaves and blue-purple flower balls perfectly set off the character's unique Anime vibe that hovers between life and death.

The weather on the shooting day wasn't very good; it was a typical cloudy and rainy day. However, this kind of soft, diffused light was actually more suitable for this set of photos, as it didn't require harsh contrast, and the flowers in the shadows had more layers. The transparent umbrella I held in my hand was also specially prepared for the rainy day atmosphere, reflecting the surrounding blue-purple luster and making the overall frame look more translucent.

In terms of styling, the collar of this JK-style school uniform top is blue, creating a unified visual extension with the blue butterfly hair accessory and the tone of the hydrangeas. The purple pleated short skirt and black over-the-knee socks are the soul of this look; this combination has a daily feel but carries obvious anime visual characteristics. The leg lines wrapped in black stockings also form excellent visual guidance in the flower bushes, allowing the overall composition to have both color richness and reflect the character's own delicacy. The tailoring of the clothes is very slim-fitting, and the way the bowtie is tied is also meticulous; I specially adjusted the width of the shoulder straps on both sides to make the shoulder lines look sharper with the sailor collar. The top opening of the over-the-knee socks was also carefully adjusted to both maintain visual translucency and form a sharp layering with the bottom hem of the short skirt.

The first image is a low-angle shot lying directly in the flower bushes. To be honest, lying on the hydrangeas requires special care not to crush the stems of the flowers, so my head and shoulders were suspended during shooting, relying mainly on the strength of my lower back for support. The twisting amplitude and angle of the torso, the hand movements, and the relationship between the flowers covering the body proportions are all very important. The photographer tried many angles before finally settling on this framing that fills the surrounding area with flower buds as much as possible. Looking down from the camera's perspective perfectly displays the full view of the entire outfit; the black over-the-knee stockings make the legs look slender, and the relaxed posture of the arms softly melts into the sea of flowers. I tried my best to empty my gaze at that time, thinking about nothing else, and completely immersed myself in a quiet and even somewhat lonely state.

The second image is actually of me squatting in the flower bushes holding that transparent umbrella. This is a very classic anime composition style, where the sharp angles of the umbrella surface contrast with the soft petals around. My fingers touched the green leaves and brought them close to my lips, which was a slightly designed small movement to keep the frame from looking too rigid. The blue butterfly hair accessory became the finishing touch in this close-up shot, reflecting back and forth with the water light gleaming off the umbrella frame. This feeling of entering the frame with an umbrella in the flower bushes carries a special flavor of waiting or guarding, which just happens to echo the character's personality.

In the original work Sankarea: Undying Love, Rea Sanka is a very special existence. She doesn't possess the terrifying characteristics of traditional zombies but instead has a delicacy unique to young girls. Her own tragic color paired with flowers like Endless Summer Hydrangeas, which can bloom in both summer and autumn, brings a highly fitting sense of destiny. I hope to express that quiet, melancholy yet vibrant feeling through this cosplay photography. Although shooting in flower bushes easily leaves one covered in mud, water, and pollen, seeing the final photos makes all the hard work feel worth it.

This shoot allowed me to have a deeper understanding of the character Rea Sanka, not just an external restoration on the surface, but more of an emotional resonance. Every photoshoot to me is a complete character experience, striving to stay close to the original work from the makeup to the body language. The raindrops falling on the flower leaves that day also became part of the frame, along with these blue-purple hydrangeas, becoming the most special page in this memory.
