[Ukinami Yuzuha Cosplay] The Electricity-Discharging, Red-Haired Little Raccoon from Zenless Zone Zero

Choosing the character Ukinami Yuzuha for this cosplay project went exceptionally smoothly from costume preparation to final cuts. The shooting location was a pedestrian shopping street featuring a semi-arched canopy roof. Although the daytime natural light was intense, it fit perfectly with my creative vision for Backlit photography—relying entirely on the sun to rim-light the figure with gold instead of using a complex lighting layout.

When prepping this Ukinami Yuzuha Cosplay look, the core visual element is undoubtedly the highly recognizable Red hair twin tails. To match the character's traits, I spent quite some thought in advance managing the wig's volume to ensure the braids were sufficiently thick and that the fluffy ornament on top stood naturally upright. The light pink sweater on the upper body is oversized, and my favorite detail is the pair of red beast claws on the cuffs, looking both cute and playful. The massive white bow tie at the collar with its red embellishments brings the vibrant anime vibe to full capacity. For the lower body, I paired it with a basic black pleated mini-skirt, asymmetrical white and grey over-the-knee socks, and tied a black leather strap ring around the thigh. Combined with the brownish mid-calf boots featuring metal buckles and thick heels, the entire styling looks clean and sharp, rich in visual layering, and does a wonderful job of framing the leg lines.

Aside from the clothing outfit, the biggest challenge this time was actually that massive polka-dot bag prop. It's bulky and carries some weight; when wearing it, I had to be careful with the angle to avoid blocking key costume details. During the shoot, the photographer opted for a highly dynamic low-angle perspective, a composition that aligns beautifully with Ukinami Yuzuha's confident and slightly mischievous character temperament. Standing with feet spaced widely apart, right hand raised high, and left hand on her hip, that sense of commanding the room naturally flowed out into the frame. The low-angle shot not only greatly elongates the visual proportions of the body but also seamlessly frames the urban commercial street elements and glass curtain walls in the background. The artificial palm trees and blurred pedestrians added a fun layer of collision between real life and the 2D anime world to this piece of Cosplay photography.

Conducting Backlit photography under the piercing midday sun poses a genuine test for facial expressions and skin tones. One must pinpoint the precise angle between the model, camera, and sunlight to avoid a completely darkened face. We adjusted our positioning a few times and finally locked down that intense beam leaking through the canopy gaps. Although I was blasted by the sun to the point of barely keeping my eyes open, the final texture of overexposed highlights and glowing rims gave the entire photo a hot-blooded, bright manga-like atmosphere. This kind of outdoor cosplay shoot in an urban street environment heavily tests on-site adaptability, but it's exactly this straightforward freedom—unbound by a pure studio setup—that breathes a sense of real-world vitality into the character.

The surrounding atmosphere during the shoot was fantastic; passing pedestrians at most glanced over with curiosity without causing interference. Influenced by the props, I felt myself overflowing with the vibrant energy of a little animal waiting to discharge, leaning both my gaze and movements heavily into her clever wit. The post-processing adhered to the mindset of preserving the raw light and shadow without excessive color grading, maintaining the sun's warm undertone. While the whole shoot was exhausting, materializing this pinkish, high-voltage little raccoon image and presenting it through such crisp light and shadow made for a highly memorable attempt. For many fellow enthusiasts, choosing a clear day, putting on a beloved outfit, and hitting the shutter a few times in a favorite streetscape is already immensely satisfying.
