Shooting this Nihilux cosplay today fulfilled my long-held wish to portray such a languid character with intellectual contrast. The design of this outfit is truly distinctive: the long white trench coat carries the aloof demeanor of a researcher, yet the inner black deep-V top and mini-skirt, paired with black glossy high heels and Black stockings, completely shattered my stereotype of conventional researchers. Putting on the beret, the red-and-blue silk scarf, and the wire-rimmed glasses, looking at myself in the mirror, the signature aura of Manga artist Erweima instantly came alive.
To embody the persona of Erweima, I carefully contemplated her personality before the shoot. Her lore notes that her favorite thing is saying 'NO' to meeting deadlines on time, so on set, I constantly reminded myself to maintain a relaxed, effortless, and even slightly cynical attitude. I absolutely loved the set design for this shoot: cool-toned blue lighting paired with a thoroughly Sci-fi style tabletop, with scrolling complex code interfaces on the left screen alongside an orange robotic arm and green plants. The counter on the right was crowded with chemical flasks holding multicolored liquids, making the space resemble both a high-tech lab and the studio of a genius Manga artist.
Styling this silver-white wig was actually quite demanding—especially the front blunt bangs and the long side braids, requiring copious amounts of styling spray to maintain their perfect contours. For makeup, I specifically chose purple contact lenses paired with reddish lips and thin black-framed glasses, giving my gaze a languid yet sharp look. On set, the cool purple and blue lights falling across the white coat produced fantastic textures. To convey the uninhibited nature of a procrastinating Manga artist, I experimented extensively with body language—casually leaning against the desk edge, crossing my legs on the chair, with the fountain pen and notebook in hand looking like props just put down after rushing a manuscript before going on strike.
Throughout the shoot, I continuously held the black fountain pen and notebook—the quintessential soul props of Erweima as a Manga artist. While seated on the chair, I intentionally tried crossing my legs so my leg lines, accentuated by the stockings and heels, achieved their best visual effect. The Black stockings not only elevated the maturity of the styling, but also struck an exquisite balance between aloofness and allure. Leaning across the desk, perching sideways on its edge, or placing one hand on my hip holding the pen while staring into the lens—every gesture aimed to precisely convey her confident attitude of 'I am procrastinating on my deadlines, but what are you going to do about it?' The details of the leather gloves and metallic chains further amplified the rebellious edge.
Integrating into this Sci-fi style space, I sought to project an effortless composure before the camera. The colorful chemical reagents, robotic arms, and screens pulsating with code felt like the whims and inspirations in Erweima's mind materialized into reality. Posing on the desk in those black high heels wasn't easy in terms of balance, but to present the best leg lines and the texture of the Black stockings, every bit of effort was worth it. The layering of this costume is remarkably rich: the white trench coat, black underlayer, sheer fabric piecing, as well as the white belt and metallic chains around the waist, all elevated the refinement of the look. I particularly loved resting my crossed hands with the pen, leaning slightly forward into the camera—as if confronting readers, or concocting the next unexpected plot twist. Being able to interpret Nihilux cosplay from Honkai: Star Rail in such a unique style was an immensely joyful, creatively inspiring experience.
