[Robin cosplay] Two Characters, Two Universes: CP31 Anime Convention Field Report

The two-day itinerary for CP31 has finally come to an end, and while taking a break to organize photos, I'm quickly jotting down some thoughts to document this convention experience. This time I prepared two entirely different looks: one was Robin cosplay from Honkai: Star Rail, and the other was Gongsun Li Cosplay from Honor of Kings. Both are highly distinct characters with demanding standards for makeup, wigs, and props.

On the first day, I debuted Robin cosplay. The purple wig took a long time to style; to capture that airy, dreamlike quality, I paid special attention to securing the headpiece. The green colored contacts paired with pink-purple eyeshadow delivered exceptional textural depth. The convention was packed with attendees, and friends coming by for photo exchanges were non-stop. The group shots in Figures 3 and 4 were so joyful to shoot, with everyone cooperating wonderfully. The intricate highlights of this outfit lie in the feathers on the chest and shoulders, as well as the purple beaded garlands. Shot under the venue's natural light, the resulting convention photos turned out beautifully, and the photographer's angles were spot-on, making the entire look appear remarkably delicate.

The second day was Gongsun Li Cosplay, where the stars of the show were the fluffy bunny ears and the large blue transparent umbrella. Because of the umbrella's large size, holding it up on the convention floor made it very conspicuous, naturally drawing plenty of lenses. For this set, I deliberately paired White stockings style leg sleeves with matching shoes, which sculpted the leg contours nicely and yielded ideal results in the full-body convention photos shown in Figure 7. During shooting, the reflector angle was just right—light filtered through the blue umbrella onto my face, giving my skin a luminous, translucent glow. Experiencing these two looks one after the other—one gentle and mysterious, the other spirited and lively—provided two completely different journeys.

I also handed out many self-prepared photocards and goodies on site; I wonder if everyone managed to pick one up? Every photo exchange felt like a brief, joyous reunion, and seeing the stunning photos everyone took was deeply encouraging. I carefully reviewed the close-ups and full-body captures taken by the photographers; the compositions were exceedingly professional, and I'm very grateful for their patient waiting and posing guidance. Next up is primarily waiting for the rest of the convention photos, and I will definitely select my favorites to print out as keepsakes.

These two days at CP31 were truly a massive test of physical endurance. Navigating through the crowds carrying multiple bags of props, makeup easily smudged and wigs easily got disheveled, requiring touch-ups every few hours—this is truly the behind-the-scenes toil of convention-goers. However, seeing such refined final results made all the exhaustion vanish into thin air.

The pictures recorded countless memorable moments: the close-up lenses clearly showcase the exquisite eye makeup, while the full-body shots display the overall costume coordination and proportions. The White stockings leg sleeves were very popular on the convention floor; paired with the blue skirt ensemble, they really accentuated leg length, making this Gongsun Li look feel exceptionally photogenic. Extensive styling spray was used during wig prep to keep the shape intact. We also scouted diverse spots during the shoot: elevator lobbies and corridors with relatively even lighting were chosen for close-ups, while the natural light and reflector conditions outside the venue were ideal for full-body shots. Mastering these subtle details genuinely elevated the quality of the final images. I look forward to the upcoming domestic anime events and ICG, hoping to meet everyone with even more faithful character looks and reunite with friends from our previous photo exchanges.
