Today I'm sharing the behind-the-scenes details of this Albedo cosplay shoot. Cosplaying Albedo from Overload this time, I was genuinely thrilled when looking at the character design. The overall look is built upon a white form-fitting dress, anchored by gold chains as the core decorative motif. The dress pattern was quite demanding: the off-the-shoulder neckline meant the anti-slip silicone strips and invisible straps required numerous readjustments. The golden collar around my neck was custom-crafted with subtle bas-relief textures. The long white gloves on both hands had a lovely texture, though wrapping them with gold chains meant constantly repositioning them between takes to prevent the links from slipping or tangling too tightly.
The white curved horns on my head were carved from EVA foam and hand-painted; to keep them lightweight without dragging backward, I reinforced the internal headband structure with several layers. For the purple hair, styling focused on trimming the bangs and sculpting the face-framing curves to hug my jawline, channeling the character's signature aura. The black feathered wings behind me were a major hurdle during the shoot: carrying noticeable weight, the harness straps dug painfully into my shoulders, yet for the sake of the finished visuals, I held poses before photographer Wei Lai's lens for hours.
For makeup, the eyeshadow favored reddish-brown tones to deepen the sockets, with eyeliner flicked slightly upward and paired with subtle red accents at the eye corners to evoke a gaze both seductive and aloof. The lip color remained a relatively soft red tone to avoid overpowering the visual focus of the eyes.
The shooting took place in an indoor studio with intricate lighting. To accentuate the textures of the white attire and golden chains, photographer Wei Lai poured immense thought into the lighting setup. We used side-backlighting to trace the silhouette of the wings, keeping the frontal fill light soft to prevent blown-out highlights on the white fabric. For the pose with hands crossed over the chest, I tested multiple angles before finalizing this half-lowered head and downward gaze; aligned with the cascading drape of the chains, it created a rich, balanced composition. The high-slit design of the skirt with golden piping also visually elongated the silhouette.
Regarding character interpretation, Albedo inherently carries a powerful duality: an overwhelming, authoritative presence alongside an immensely captivating, seductive side. In designing postures, I avoided stiff stances, opting instead for relaxed yet upright lines to balance the succubus's sensuality with her haughty pride. To highlight the tactile weight of the chains, I repeatedly smoothed them during breaks so they fell with a natural drape.
Although donning this gear and completing the shoot took immense stamina, seeing the finished results made every bit of trouble feel completely worthwhile. I hope this set showcases a distinct side of the character. Heartfelt thanks to photographer Wei Lai for the shooting and retouching, as well as our backstage crew for all their support.
