The character selected for this anime convention is Albedo, featuring a classic look with a minimalist white dress and pure Black wings. I attempted to restore the imposing presence and splendor of the Overseer of the Guardians of the Great Tomb of Nazarick.
Let's first talk about the costume details. What attracted me most about this white dress wasn't actually the exaggerated wings, but the gold chain design on the upper body. Golden chains interweave across the off-the-shoulder chest and neck, paired with a white high collar, maintaining a sense of holiness without losing allure. The sleeves feature a flared ruffle design, paired with long white gloves, bringing a classical elegance when making hand gestures. Below the waist is a high-slit ruffled skirt hem, requiring careful posture adjustments while walking to avoid stepping on the trailing train.
Regarding head accessories, the white curved horns on top of the head provide high visual recognition. The wig is extremely long black hair; to ensure faithful reproduction of the dark red highlight at the tips, a lot of time was spent styling the wig. The ahoge on top of the head is also a finishing touch, fixed with styling spray to maintain its standing form.
The most eye-catching prop is likely this pair of massive Black wings. The physical item is enormous, requiring extra care when moving through crowded convention environments to avoid bumping into other visitors or display boards. The wings are crafted from rigid materials with a very realistic texture, but they are by no means light. Carrying them on my back for a full day of shooting took a heavy physical toll on my shoulders and back, yet seeing the three-dimensional depth in photos when the wings spread and fold makes all the hard work feel completely worthwhile.
Working with the photographer today was also very pleasant; we mainly shot in open areas of the convention. Since ambient light on site was quite complex and overhead ceiling lights easily created harsh highlights, shooting relied heavily on the photographer's precise control over angles and lighting. We found some slightly cool gray-toned backdrops on site, forming a wonderful visual contrast with the white dress and Black wings. I tried various poses, such as sitting on the ground looking forward, standing looking back over my shoulder, and tilting my head sideways, hoping to express the character's proud yet slightly languid demeanor.
Cosplaying at anime conventions is actually a physically demanding process—waking up at 5 or 6 AM to do makeup, hauling suitcases and props all the way to the venue, and finally removing makeup and wrapping up after it ends takes up basically a whole day. Walking around the hall, I frequently met passionate fellow fans asking for photos; though physically exhausted, seeing everyone's love for this character brought immense satisfaction. Before preparing for this Albedo cosplay, I carefully studied the character's personality traits in the original work and the costume fabrics in the original illustrations, striving to make every detail fit the lore.
What makes Convention photos most authentic is that they record genuine moments inside the hall—surrounding environments, mottled floor scratches, or distant passersby all become real backdrops in this photo set. Compared to spotless studio refinement, such Convention photos carry more down-to-earth vitality and on-site presence. The shooting process this time was thoroughly enjoyable, where Black wings and the pure white gown created a powerful visual impact under the lens in this Roleplay experience.
This photo set documents the day we met this character. The Overseer of the Guardians of Nazarick is a deeply charismatic presence in lore, and being able to embody her concretely in reality was a very special Roleplay experience for me personally. Although high-intensity shooting and wearing heavy props left my body exhausted, presenting these photos brings an inexpressible sense of achievement. As the shutter clicked, that frozen moment captured the story we created together about this character.
