[Yangyang cosplay] Wuthering Waves Feathers of Midnight: Convention Styling Log

Today I cosplayed Yangyang's Feathers of Midnight skin from Wuthering Waves. When I first received this outfit, I was struck by its intricate layering. The innermost layer is a form-fitting black base, draped beneath several tiers of airy, greyish-blue sheer robes. To make navigating the Anime convention easier, I slightly cinched the waistline and base garment. The outer sleeves are integrated with silver arm guards that carry noticeable weight; to keep arm movements natural, I adjusted the strap tension beforehand so the fabric wouldn't slip down when raising the folding fan. Fine-tuning these garment details was quite a challenge.

Styling the wig was the centerpiece. The black-and-blue gradient fibers naturally carry depth, while the red tassel and white feather ornaments at the crown were anchored with multiple bobby pins. Breezes inside the hall made me worry they might tilt, requiring periodic touch-ups in the restroom. For makeup, matching the tone of Feathers of Midnight, I wore vibrant blue contact lenses, cool greyish-pink eyeshadow, and soft red smudging under the lower eyelids to evoke a serene yet delicately fragile aesthetic. A fair foundation ensured my facial contours remained dimensional under harsh convention lighting.

At the venue, the surroundings heavily influenced the shoot. The booth I stood before was bright yellow, creating a sharp visual contrast against my black-and-blue palette. While this tested the photographer's metering, the final shots beautifully preserved both garment textures and background depth. I used a black folding fan as a prop. Handling a folding fan requires delicate technique—keeping fingers relaxed rather than gripping tightly, positioning it near the chin, chest, or partially obscuring the face to guide visual focus. I particularly love the angles in Photos 3 and 4; the subtly relaxed gaze balanced wonderfully with the crisp texture of the fan.

Navigating the convention in this look was demanding. The tattered, stylized hem and high heels required extra care to avoid tripping over the skirts. Yet seeing the flutter of the robes and the sheen of the metal hardware in the final images made every bit of effort worthwhile. The hard ambient light accentuated the fabric textures in a unique way. In Photo 5, lightly veiling my lips with the fan created an exquisite composition. This was my first time presenting such a polished Yangyang cosplay at a convention, and I look forward to exploring more styles from this Chinese-style game. Blush was kept minimal to keep focus on the eyes. Surrounded by onlookers at the yellow booth, I stayed centered by channeling the character's quiet grace. Putting on this elaborate Ancient style cosplay took patience—aligning straps and buckles alone took considerable time. The silver bracers adorned with red gems added stunning detail. Posing across upright and leaning stances, the weight of the bracers while unfurling the fan heightened immersion. Capturing so many clear, striking photos left me thoroughly satisfied.
