[Changli Cosplay] Holding an Umbrella Under the Moon, Quietly Enjoying the Leisurely Time in Wuthering Waves

For this shoot, I specially picked two scenes—'indoor ancient style' and 'outdoor moonlit night'—to present the calm and serene temperament of the character. When shooting on the roof at night, I happened to make a composition with the moonlight as the background. Once the oil-paper umbrella in my hand was opened, the small yellow flowers and a small white cat ornament nearby unexpectedly created a sense of narrative. To fit the nocturnal atmosphere, the lighting leaned toward a cool white tone, which better highlighted the translucency of the white streaks and pink hair under the night sky.

The indoor set was chosen in front of Chinese screens and lanterns, shifting to a lazy and casual sitting posture, while the prop was still that red-and-white oil-paper umbrella. The wig was selected in a lighter pink and styled with detailed braided elements. Paired with the black neck accessory and the negative space design of the upper body, it is visually refreshing yet layered. Special mention goes to the makeup and styling this time; the eyeshadow has a bit of an orange-red transition, beautifully bringing out that indifferent yet slightly cool feeling in the eyes. The red-and-white color blocking on the costume is very eye-catching, but to avoid looking top-heavy, it was paired with black tights featuring a star pattern and lace-up high heels. The overall outfit not only conforms to the established setting but also adds some styling sense for a real-life shoot.

Attempting to capture that feeling of 'silence can also bring peace of mind' in front of the lens mainly relied on the relaxation of the eyes and posture. Instead of intentionally posing, letting the tip of the umbrella tilt slightly or the fingertips naturally hold the handle allowed the frame to flow naturally. The photographer captured many moments through candid shots; whether looking up at the moon or leaning down with lowered eyes, the timing was handled just right. Actually, when shooting characters with a high degree of restoration, details are often found in the makeup and texture, such as the material of the red silk ribbon on the cuffs, and the zipper and strap design of the clothes. Every small element needs to match the spirit of the original work as much as possible. I hope this set of photos can make everyone see the character that I have understood and presented with all my heart. This artistic creation perfectly blends Anime cosplay with the aesthetics of Chinese-style photography, presenting a vivid Ancient style portrait.
