When shooting this Yato cosplay in the God of Depravity form, the most time-consuming part was actually not the gear, but the sense of emptiness after slaughter in his eyes. I specially chose a wasteland at night, utilizing harsh red and white light effects to intensify the sense of oppression, combined with fake blood on the face and battle-damage makeup, striving to approach his other side shown in Noragami. During the shoot, the posture and the grip strength on the sword were adjusted several times; the convergence of the blade and the gaze under a diagonal composition can better convey the chilling, murderous aura. To ensure complete details, the makeup highlights were controlled and the hair was styled to look slightly messy, avoiding an overly polished look that deviates from the battle-damaged state.

The prop sword felt quite substantial in hand, with excellent texture on the guard and the wrapping of the hilt, naturally creating a sense of gathering power when holding it. Before the shoot, I specifically reviewed relevant clips from the original work, observing his micro-expressions and habitual movements in this state, such as how he holds the sword and the relaxation level of his shoulders—details that directly affect whether the final photos fit the character. The nighttime shooting environment posed a massive challenge; a slight off-angle in the lighting could ruin the overall emotion due to facial shadows, so it took a lot of time to adjust positioning and lighting on-site. During post-processing, I intentionally preserved the skin texture without excessive airbrushing, making the rough feeling of having fought and the battle-damage makeup look more realistic.

Sometimes when playing a character with a heavy background, immersion comes slowly, requiring you to gradually map out those emotional points. The main visual focus of this set is placed on the relationship between the gaze and the blade, with a cool tone paired with purple hair, which perfectly fits his suppressed and dangerous inner state as a tragic Japanese-style samurai. Being able to capture this cool and sharp emotion through the lens of Cosplay photography was a highly gratifying experience for me. Combined with the wind and the grassland environment of that day, the overall atmosphere can be considered fully maxed out, and I hope this version of the presentation allows everyone to see a different perspective.
