This photoshoot was chosen to take place in the sports equipment room to match the setting of Eleg's gymnastics uniform. For the costume, a yellow-and-white color-blocked short-sleeve top featuring a black paw print pattern on the chest is paired with yellow athletic shorts and white over-the-knee Stockings, giving the overall color scheme a very bright look. The wig is short golden hair, specially styled with an ahoge on top to enhance the character's recognition. The wooden boxes, vaulting boxes, and metal racks in the equipment room provided a natural shooting environment, while the colorful cones and fitness balls in the background added rich colors to the frame.
In terms of props, a volleyball is an essential element. When shooting the first picture, I sat sideways on a vaulting box with a blue cushion, leaning my torso forward and looking back over my shoulder, with one hand gently pinching the edge of the shorts to highlight the extension of the legs and waistline, while the blurred volleyball in the foreground added depth to the frame. This pose requires core and waist strength to maintain balance, along with a playful look in the eyes when looking back to truly showcase the character's vitality.
The second picture adopted a low-angle upward shot. I sat facing forward on a vaulting box with a red cushion, crossing my legs to grip the volleyball, with one hand resting on my chest and the other supporting behind me. This pose demands certain core strength, requiring an upright posture to give the overall lines a more dynamic and taut tension. The low-angle perspective is exceptionally favorable for displaying the legs, which, combined with the wrapping feel of the white over-the-knee Stockings, creates a visually slender and elongated look.
The on-site lighting leaned warm, matching the environment of the equipment room to create a realistic yet anime-infused atmosphere. The texture of the Stockings looked quite soft under the warm light, forming a wonderful color echo with the yellow gymnastics uniform. During the shoot, it was necessary to constantly adjust the position of the socks to prevent them from slipping down while trying to showcase the soft lines of the leg muscles. Since the top features a cropped midriff design, I had to pay attention to tightening my abdominal muscles during movements, especially from the low-angle perspective to avoid unnecessary shadows.
When shooting this kind of athletic-style cosplay, the extension of the limbs and the transmission of the gaze are crucial. Looking back and upward gazes allow for better interaction with the camera. The wooden boxes and mats in the equipment room provided ample support points, keeping the poses from feeling too stiff. As an interactive prop, the volleyball not only enriched the composition but also gave the hands a natural placement. You can utilize the height differences of the vaulting boxes to create sitting and leaning postures, letting the legs hang or bend naturally to visually elongate proportions.
The camera lens was chosen with a large aperture to ensure the main subject remains sharp while blurring the background equipment, preventing the frame from looking too cluttered. The color grading leaned slightly toward a warm yellow, echoing the color of the costume. When an anime character steps into a real-world setting, costume accuracy and prop matching are the foundation, but what's even more important is combining the character's expression with on-site interaction. Eleg carries a playful yet confident vibe, so I tried to stay as relaxed as possible in front of the camera, maintaining a mischievous look paired with body postures to give the photos more narrative depth. This shoot in the sports equipment room was an extremely fun attempt, and I hope to convey this athletic girl atmosphere to everyone.
