For this Ruruka feature photo shoot in Meizhou, the focus was placed on showcasing the costume's details and nailing the character's temperament. To restore that iconic ahoge, I tried several styling methods and finally settled on this current treatment, which features a natural curve and is resistant to deformation, maintaining great three-dimensionality even in windy outdoor environments. Ruruka's Magical Girl battle outfit has a very strong sense of layering, with a primary black tone matched with golden piping, complemented by a large area of pink-and-purple tulle in the back, offering a powerful visual tension. To make the tulle present the most perfect flowing state in front of the lens, I followed the photographer's instructions on-site, repeatedly trying turning and walking movements, striving to let every layer of fabric spread out. Although the layered design of the skirt hem is gorgeous, walking in it indeed requires extra care, but for the aesthetic appeal of the frame, none of this matters. The magic wand prop in my hand also took quite a bit of time to polish; the top frame structure, bow decoration, and gemstone inlay were all meticulously considered to ensure they stand up to scrutiny even in close-up shots. The outdoor lighting in Meizhou on that day was very abundant; utilizing the stone pillars and arch structures of the corridor, we captured many natural changes in light and shadow. Especially in backlight conditions, the effect of sunlight piercing through the tulle was extremely dreamy, giving the illusion that magic was about to be cast. Sitting on the marble railing or leaning against a pillar, the pairing of black stockings and gold-trimmed high heels wonderfully flattered the leg lines, which not only fits the character's setting but also adds a greater sense of extension to the picture composition, while a slightly low-angle shot can elongate the figure to look more slender. In terms of makeup, to highlight a doll-like texture, some special treatments were done to the eye area, paired with purple contact lenses, making the gaze look more aligned with the character, striving to achieve not only visual restoration but also closeness in temperament. The presentation of this entire set of photos—from the wig styling and costume texture to the choice of scene—was a very complete cosplay experience. Actually, holding that magic wand for too long still makes the arm sore, but in order to take good photos, I couldn't care less. Although these high heels look great, walking on uneven flagstone roads still requires caution, fortunately most of the time the framing was done within the corridor. The cooperation with the photographer was also extremely tacit, and many candid moments naturally presented Ruruka's state. I am personally very satisfied with this set of feature photos; from the control of various details to the light and shadow atmosphere of the final processed pictures, it reached my expected results.
