[Lumine Cosplay] Genshin Impact Lumine's Daily Mirror Shoot

The photos for my Genshin Impact Lumine cosplay are out. Although I wrote an OOC apology in the title and post, the shooting process itself was very enjoyable for me.

Let's start with the design of this outfit. The short black dress uses a fabric with a subtle sheen—not a cheap, dull solid black, but an effect with a soft shimmer that displays a nice texture under proper lighting. The loose neckline combined with puffed sleeves on both shoulders helps flatter the shoulder and neck lines. Gold metal pieces and silver rhinestones embedded at the waist and cuffs add a touch of glamour to the solid black garment, while corresponding to details from the character's original design.

A lace trim along the hem, accented with buttons, gives the overall look rich layering. Paired with white pantyhose and a leather leg garter on the right leg, this was an effort to stay true to the character's image.

Regarding the hair, I selected a medium-long blonde wig this time. Since my natural hair color is darker, wearing a light-colored wig for a Blonde character actually required a bit of an adjustment period. The bangs on this wig were quite long and slightly obstructed my sight, but I kept the style to stay faithful to the setting. The white flower hair ornament on the side of the head was pre-fixed, and paired with the blue feather and hairband, it balanced the overall look just right. The fine strands at the top and sides were thinned out slightly so they wouldn't look too stiff, creating a touch of natural, effortless messiness before the camera.

The prop sword was the centerpiece of this coordination. The handle of this long sword is gold with 3D embossed details, and the blade features a blue-and-white paint finish with considerable weight to it. Holding it while taking photos allowed me to better capture the character's intended poses. However, when taking full-body shots, holding this prop single-handedly to strike a pose definitely required some arm strength.

Regarding this mirror selfie session: first, shooting in a home environment using reflection from doors/windows or indoor ceiling lights naturally has lighting limitations. The framing might look slightly dark or have local glare. The first mirror photo was snapped after searching for angles for quite a while; I adjusted my sword-holding posture slightly to best showcase the outfit's overall body proportions. The two close-up shots clearly captured the wig's density and makeup details. My usual makeup routine emphasizes layered eyeshadow and lashes, but this time I intentionally elongated the eyeliner and used earth-tone eyeshadows to deepen the eyes. Under the pale blonde wig and fair base makeup, the visual focus of the overall eye makeup became neatly concentrated.

As for the OOC apology mentioned in my post, it's because I'm aware that my facial structure and hair styling differ somewhat from Lumine in Genshin Impact. Lumine in Genshin Impact has a crisp, refreshed visual style, whereas my set—especially from the mirror selfie angles—might look a bit more casual or carry a slightly lazy, relaxed vibe. As a dedicated cosplayer, I feel that sincerely acknowledging this visual gap shows respect for the character, while setting reasonable expectations for viewers regarding accuracy. Although I didn't pursue an intensely strict, pitch-perfect replica, being able to wear this outfit, hold this sword, and experience the feel of the character is deeply meaningful in itself.

From preparing the costume and styling the wig to the final photoshoot and editing, the process was tiring yet very interesting. The wig was squished in the shipping box, so I had to gently comb it smooth bit by bit. The metal decorations on the dress tended to snag the fabric, requiring extra care when adjusting the look. The prop sword in particular was tricky to store and carry. But when I actually put on this cosplay outfit, stood in front of the camera, and posed with the sword, all that prep work felt completely worth it. I especially love reverse-gripping the sword or resting it against my shoulder; those shots turned out quite nice.

Honestly, everyone has their own understanding and way of doing cosplay. I'm not a hardcore player who hangs out at conventions all day; I prefer experimenting indoors with lighting setups and camera angles. Since time was tight this time, I didn't prepare a special backdrop or go outdoors, relying instead directly on indoor ambient light and a rustic wooden doorframe. The wooden texture of the doorframe unexpectedly provided a nice contrast against the black dress.

Sorting through the taken photos was also a delicate task. Some photos had harsh shadows due to awkward lighting angles, making them unusable. Among the kept photos, I personally preferred compositions that could simultaneously showcase the upper body garment details, the wig, and the prop poses. The texture of the white stockings looked fairly natural under indoor light without appearing overly artificial. In the end, I picked these few to post as a small keepsake for this trial. Although I included an OOC apology, my genuine love for this styling remains entirely real.
