[Xiao Wu cosplay] Soul Land: Soft-Boned Rabbit Under the Cherry Blossom

Every time I look at this Soft-Boned Rabbit outfit, I can't help but want to pore over the costume craft details again. This outdoor shoot was set under blooming Cherry blossom trees, where the pink and white petals unexpectedly complemented the white gauze and silver armor I was wearing. Rather than deliberately trying to recreate a specific scene, it yielded a very translucent feel under natural light instead.

First, let's talk about the visual highlights of this design. The silver hollow headpiece and rabbit ears are the soul of the entire look. To avoid looking top-heavy, I did a lot of securing work on the beads and embedded pink rhinestones of the accessories so that the earrings and headpiece could maintain their graceful drape during the shoot. The fit between the chest bow sequins and the metal vine pattern also took a lot of fine-tuning before reaching a satisfactory state. Since we opted for an aesthetic style, the white gauze material of the under-skirt was kept as thin and light as possible, paired with lace arm sleeves on the upper arms. Although it was windy during the outdoor shoot, it actually created a breezy, flowing elegance.

Regarding makeup, hair, and expression management, the wig for this look easily lays flat against the scalp, so I specially adjusted the layers of the bangs and sideburns, using soft curls and hair strands to cover the edges and soften the face shape. Eye makeup didn't use overly heavy colors, emphasizing extended lines and focused gaze instead. Holding a small pink flower between my lips or fingertips during shooting effectively softened any sharpness in the gaze, bringing the overall demeanor closer to the character's designated nimbleness.

Seeing friends jokingly comment in the thread like "Why didn't you answer when I called you with the showerhead that day?" or "Finally understanding why Xiao Wu went crazy when injured," there were actually similar unexpected fun moments during interaction on set. The temperature was quite high on the day of shooting, and condensation stuck to the hand-held props, making them almost slip when trying to strike a nimble pose. That slightly flustered yet irrepressible laughter brought a genuine reality that is hard to capture in formal poses. Demonstrating an injured state or emotional bursts in front of the lens requires immense immersion—for example, a slight frown, lowered eyelids, paired with a tilted head and curled fingers can create a dynamic narrative feel in a static image.

From a professional photography perspective, natural light outdoors around flowering trees is extremely variable. To make the bokeh effect of the Cherry blossom backdrop softer, I used a telephoto lens with a shallow depth of field and used a reflector board to fill in facial shadows. This highlighted the 3D texture of the silver threading along the outfit edges without overexposing large areas of sunlight on the white gauze. This pale pink-and-white color palette actually places high demands on environmental matching; if the background has messy light spots, the image looks dirty, so angle selection and aperture control are crucial. The emphasis of this look lies in graceful postures and delicate clothing details; rather than expressing combat intensity through exaggerated poses and harsh lighting, we preferred restoring its gentle and beautiful side.

Even though only three official stills were posted this time, numerous refinements were made behind the scenes regarding costume coordination, makeup details, prop adjustments, and lighting tests. Not forcing poses but capturing the character's innate approachability and lightness is the core message this set aims to express. Though there were minor hitches during shooting, the feeling captured under the Cherry blossom tree remains close to my inner interpretation of this look. Every outdoor shoot is a opportunity to re-evaluate character comprehension and personal expression; I hope these photos pass along that soft aesthetic vibe.
