[Shiranui Cosplay] Beneath Onmyoji Aguri's Clear Sky, Fire Butterflies Dance Upon the Wind

Shooting this Onmyoji Shiranui set under a clear blue sky produced an exceptionally translucent visual experience. For Aguri's character design, the absolute core lies in her iconic white hair paired with red-and-white garments. As for the wig, I selected smooth white long straight hair this time; while the bun atop the head appeared simple, securing it against strong outdoor winds required careful pinning with fine steel bobby pins. Flame-textured red and yellow hair accessories paired with delicate red cords brought out her ethereal agility. For makeup, I chose a matte, breathable base texture, using earth tones for eye shadow foundation paired with a sharp red eyeliner extending outward, blending matte shadows into the eye sockets. Red lower eye shadow and facial beauty marks served as finishing touches, adding a striking, sharp edge to an otherwise cool makeup palette. The red bindi between the eyebrows easily washes out under direct outdoor sunlight, so I paid close attention to front light angles during shooting. Costume-wise, this off-the-shoulder white robe utilized luminous, lightweight semi-sheer chiffon to capture the traditional Japanese style cosplay aesthetic of the game. The open-sleeve and off-the-shoulder tailoring preserved Eastern fantasy visuals while enabling full freedom of movement. The yellow-and-brown checkered obi waist sash posed the greatest crafting challenge; a stiff inner lining guaranteed flat smoothness, while hand-woven red cord knots crisscrossed the front. Paired with red wrist cords, it established a strong visual anchor in frame. For props, two folding fans occupied major visual weight: one featured a red base with black flame gradients, while the other displayed a blue-and-white base with red berry motifs, accommodating her flame attribute while fostering a collision between cool and warm tones. To maintain sleek arm lines during shooting, I slightly tensed my forearms while holding the fans. Under harsh outdoor light, combining white hair with sheer chiffon fabrics risks blown-out highlights; thus, under overcast conditions, we shot along backlit edges where sunlight filtering through the air created a soft halo around hair strands. Standing atop metal railings to shoot, I pondered how to convey Aguri's serene yet resilient spirit, opting for natural backward glances and subtle head tilts without forcing direct lens focus—gazing into the distance better conveyed that clear, floating sky aura. Harmonizing arm extension and core stability while opening and closing folding fans took repeated trial and error. In the final images, her signature red accents contrast beautifully against the cool sky tones. Beyond standard frontal framing, side and back-glance compositions added rich spatial depth. Though white wigs and garments easily collect dust, seeing these bright, luminous light captures made all the effort and shooting hardships completely worth it.
