[Exusiai the New Covenant Cosplay] The Red-Cloaked Bard Under the Sunset, the Setting Glow of The Legend Seeker

This time I am bringing you the hair, makeup, and styling shoot for Exusiai the New Covenant's "The Legend Seeker" skin. Friends familiar with this character setup probably know that the look of The Legend Seeker carries a wanderer's free and easy attitude. When I was putting together this look, my greatest feeling was that these seemingly simple elements are actually quite a test of detail when combined.
First, let's talk about the hairstyle and the hat. That bright red short hair not only needs the curve of the bangs fixed well but also needs to coordinate with that small black top hat; it shouldn't feel too out of place when worn, making the hat look like it naturally fits on top of the head rather than being a staged prop. The red cape and wide red scarf around the neck are the visual centerpiece of the entire look. Because its color is extremely vivid, it easily suffers from blown highlights or unrealistic colors under outdoor natural light. I specifically selected a fabric material with a great drape, so that when it sways in the wind or rests across the back, it can present that casual state seen in the original illustration.
On the clothing, the short black jacket paired with white geometric edges gives off a crisp ranger temperament. The segmented beige arm guards and black gloves on the arms not only refine the arm lines but also make the character look more ready for battle. As for the over-the-knee boots, this is also a key point of this outfit. The glossy deep brown leather needs to present texture and a slight reflection in front of the lens, while the length of the long boots happens to form a visual contrast with the short skirt, elongating the leg lines to look very slender.
The shooting environment was an outdoor park green space, with thick old trees, rocky dirt slopes, and green bushes in the background. When I scouted the location at that time, I felt that row of yellow park chairs was simply too perfect. The colors of red, black, yellow, and green crashed together under the warm-toned light, and instead of looking cluttered, the frame carried a vintage yet vivid sense of color layering. We intentionally chose to shoot during dusk; the sunset light hit diagonally from the side, gilding a soft golden edge onto the hair and shoulders, which is the legendary golden hour. The sunset comes fast and leaves just as quickly, so the shooting process was basically racing against the light. Once the light angle passed, the frame would instantly lose that translucent feel. Therefore, completing the adjustments of angles and expressions within an extremely short window of time was a major test of the unspoken chemistry between the photographer and the model during this Sunset portrait photography experience.
To borrow that line from the description, legends might turn into jokes, but the red-cloaked bard's footsteps in pursuit of the truth have never stopped. For this shoot, I didn't select overly complex scenarios, but rather focused all the key points on natural light and shadow and the interpretation of the character herself. In some frames, a deep depth of field with background blur highlighted the character; that quiet atmosphere of being alone was exactly the artistic conception of this character in my mind. During post-processing, I tried my best to maintain the true texture of the skin without doing excessive skin smoothing, preserving the natural skin tone and shadow contrast brought by the sunset. Localized brightening was also done on the boots' luster and the clothing's texture, striving to make the finished photo look like a frame screenshot carrying its own cinematic feel. The on-the-spot performance with my photographer partner went very smoothly this time, and the shadow treatment under harsh light did not look stiff. Being able to express this character's confidence, independence, and calm composure carrying a trace of detachment, I feel this set of photos has already achieved the desired effect for this pure piece of outdoor cosplay.
