In the name of the Goddess of Venus, I make the Sacred Judgment Pledge. This cosplay photoshoot presents Ishtar from Fate/Grand Order. For this character, I think the most core aspect is to interpret her dual nature—possessing both the pride and majesty of the Goddess of Venus, and the playfulness and vivacity of a young girl. Therefore, during the preparation stage of this shoot, we spent a vast amount of time breaking down her personality traits, striving to display this sense of contrast through micro-expressions and body language in front of the lens.

The design of this costume is extremely sophisticated. The black, white, blue, and gold color scheme is classic, but the choice of materials and the craft details are the keys to visual presentation. The large areas of white fabric utilize material with thickness and a nice drape to ensure a graceful silhouette even under dynamic movement; meanwhile, for the golden shoulder armor and chest ornaments, to escape a cheap plastic look, we specially polished the edge brightness and applied a matte treatment, allowing them to refract different layers of luster under the studio lights. The asymmetrical design is one of the highlights of this outfit, especially that royal blue long glove and leg ring; to fit the contours of the arms and legs, the material was given moderate elasticity, ensuring beauty without creating unnatural pressure marks during the shoot.

In terms of makeup, to recreate that cool and sharp gaze from the goddess's unique eyes, we chose vivid red colored contact lenses, paired with black eyeliner to sketch out a slightly upturned outer corner. I made the base makeup very light and translucent while using highlighter to brighten the center of the face, so that even when shooting under strong lights, the face maintains a three-dimensional and clear texture. The hair consists of long, black curly locks, and the black tulle bows on both sides of the top of the head add a touch of lightness belonging to a magical girl.

Managing the props was also a crucial part of this shoot. That iconic bow-shaped weapon features intricate golden openwork structures; it looks lightweight but holds a certain amount of weight in hand. When brainstorming poses, we not only wanted to restore the postures from the official illustrations but also combine the advantages of the scene to find poses that fit the character's temperament while forming a geometric balance in the frame's composition. For example, for the shot of half-kneeling on the white carpet with the weapon resting against my shoulder, it actually took adjusting through several angles to fine-tune the most comfortable and natural demeanor.

We chose an indoor studio with soft, diffuse light for this set of photos, arranged with a large number of light-colored flowers and white drapes around us, creating a dreamy and divine atmosphere. This environment perfectly matched Ishtar's trait of interwoven divinity and girlishness. I must say, the temperature inside the studio on the day of the shoot wasn't low; wearing the entire gear combination combined with the weight of the hair was actually very stuffy and hot. Yet as a cosplayer, once I enter the zone, I automatically tune out disturbances from the external environment and concentrate my attention on aligning with the character design. I suppose this is the unique charm that cosplay brings to me—it isn't just about simply putting on and changing clothes, but rather a brief experience of the character's soul.

During post-processing, the photographer @Xiashi clio and I carried out restrained yet fine adjustments to the colors. Instead of blindly cranking up the saturation, we maintained the original textures of black, white, blue, and gold, focusing heavily on enhancing the image's airy quality and the smooth transitions of light and shadow, making the entire photoset look like a series of illustrations. Although this creative process was arduous, I am personally very satisfied with the results. I hope that through this set of photos, everyone can feel my understanding and love for the character Ishtar.
