Shooting Master Yixuan from Zenless Zone Zero took roughly half a month from initial preparation to final delivery. For the wig, I selected a matte, milky-white tone cut into blunt bangs with long, sleek straight locks; the black undulating wave headpiece atop was cast from resin and hand-painted, polished repeatedly to achieve a curve that contours the head seamlessly. The most striking element of the costume is this black Patent leather jacket. Its ultra-high gloss means it has very little tolerance for forgiving light or posture imperfections. To pull off a crisp, commanding silhouette, I focused on posture training beforehand, ensuring the lines across my shoulders and waist were taut and defined. The white geometric linework and metallic buckles on the jacket faithfully recreate the character concept at a 1:1 scale, layered over a white mandarin-collar shirt and a ruffled mini skirt to soften the hard-edged stiffness of the patent leather.

The lower body was paired with sheer Black stockings and black criss-cross strappy heeled pumps. Because Master Yixuan inherently commands an imposing aura, I intentionally incorporated crossed-leg seated postures. The Black stockings produced organic shadow gradients under warm illumination, harmonizing with the carved wooden bench to visually elongate leg lines. During shooting, photographer Zhenyu demonstrated razor-sharp control over light and shadow; the calligraphic sheer curtains and potted bamboo in the background provided wonderful ambient atmosphere, preventing the glossy jacket glare from looking harsh. To keep the garments completely smooth and uncreased, broad movements were off-limits throughout the session—I relied solely on micro-adjustments of my wrists, shoulders, and leg angles to cultivate varied emotional nuances. The delicate criss-cross straps of the heels looked gorgeous, though standing in them for extended periods certainly tested foot endurance; yet for the sake of the final images, every sacrifice was worthwhile.

Shooting garments with such extreme textural contrasts is a true test of stamina. Patent leather is non-breathable and traps heat over time, and alongside the weight of the long wig, every break required delicate handling to avoid disarray. Yet seeing the tactile luster of the Patent leather jacket and the sheer subtlety of the Black stockings captured so flawlessly made everything worthwhile. The set design incorporated abundant traditional Chinese elements, such as the Four Treasures of the Study and calligraphic rice papers laid across the tea table, injecting a layer of Eastern Zen serenity beneath the foundational techwear vibe. The makeup leaned toward cool aloofness: deeper eye shading paired with long white hair accentuated the character's detached distance. Through years of cosplay, I have always insisted on shaping body language around a character's intrinsic disposition rather than striking empty poses. Collaborating with Zhenyu achieved remarkable synergy between costume and scenery. Without needing heavy CGI or synthetic effects, natural lighting and composed physical language alone brought forth the master's enigmatic aura and quiet dominance. From makeup tests to the final shoot, every step was tuned with care, hoping these photos faithfully showcase this stunning master's singular temperament.
