The weather at Xinqiao Civic Plaza on May 24th was truly perfect for an outdoor shoot. This time, my partner and I agreed on a School style cosplay theme, donning uniforms with white collared shirts, striped ties, and black long skirts. Although it started getting hot during the shoot—and sweating under the sun and wigs was unavoidable—the final results made it all worthwhile.
For our backdrop, we chose the corridor area of the plaza. Those white stone pillars brought an inherently classical and clean atmosphere, which, combined with the soft afternoon light, complemented the outfit textures wonderfully. Especially near dusk, the warm yellow side-backlight struck our garments and hair, giving the frame a beautiful natural golden rim light. We shot several interactive poses; since we were portraying two characters with distinct personalities, we put quite a bit of thought into arranging our movements. On my side, a pale blonde short hairstyle paired with white flower hair ornaments and a metallic forehead accessory conveyed a quieter, gentle demeanor. My partner sported silver-white twin-tails with animal ears, exuding a livelier and more energetic vibe. From quiet moments of adjusting collars individually to standing shoulder-to-shoulder with arms intertwined and fingers hooked together, we aimed to capture that natural, effortless chemistry.
Clothing-wise, the white shirt offered a crisp cut, paired with a black high-waisted long skirt boasting excellent drape, creating a clean visual silhouette. Combining black platform shoes with semi-sheer stockings added richer dimensions to the overall styling. During shooting, we paid special attention to skirt flow and shirt creases to keep frames clean and uncluttered. While this uniform appears simple on the surface, basic outfits test details most—knotting ties, sleeve roll-ups, and garment alignment all required meticulous adjustment to present the best condition before the camera.
Regarding the concept for this set, we aimed for a relaxed and atmospheric daily life record rather than high-action combat or war scenes. Thus, we primarily focused on capturing subtle eye contact and physical interactions between the two, such as hand close-ups and quiet moments gazing at each other. As an Aglaea Cosplay interpretation from Honkai: Star Rail, we strove to stay as faithful to character traits as possible—carefully matching hair, gaze, and accessories. We encountered many passersby during the shoot, but everyone was friendly and respectful of our space.
Our photographer did an amazing job capturing many of the exact moods I envisioned. The entire outdoor shoot, from makeup and styling to photography, took around two hours. By the time we wrapped up, dusk was falling, but seeing those satisfying shots in the camera proved that all our planning was entirely worth it. My partner coordinated seamlessly with me; bringing this School style cosplay daily life vibe to fruition together was a deeply gratifying experience. I hope to continue challenging various styling and outfit genres in future Anime-style photography projects, documenting our Outdoor photoshoot daily life until fully satisfied with my cosplay journey.
