The core concept behind this swimsuit photoshoot for Hifumi from Blue Archive was capturing that lazy, carefree relaxation of idling on the beach. To embody her naturally easygoing yet adorable character traits, we prepared extensively with wardrobe and accessories. The yellow halo headpiece is the soul of the look; we carefully adjusted lighting angles so it would pop distinctly against the white backdrop. The wig preserved her signature twintails and blunt bangs, styled with subtle curves using a flat iron to give the hair a healthier texture. Crafted from lightweight fabric, this two-piece white ruffled swimsuit drapes naturally along its hems whether walking or seated. Black shoulder straps and ribbon bows introduced sharp visual contrast, while resting black round-frame sunglasses atop the head filled the open space around the neckline and shoulders, echoing the darker accents while adding a relaxed vacation touch.

Since this was shot in a white cyclorama studio, the high-gloss reflective flooring became our greatest asset. We treated it like the ocean surface or wet sand, using light to cast clean, clear reflections so the frame gained rich three-dimensional depth despite the solid background. Wooden barrels, areca palms, the blue-and-white striped swim ring in my arms, and the expressive yellow plush cushion beneath my feet all enriched the scene with vacation details. The little yellow rubber bath duck was the crowning touch, injecting playful charm into the scene to help me relax before the lens while letting viewers feel this was an authentic, lively corner of summer.

Regarding makeup, to complement the crisp summer theme, the base was kept sheer and breathable, preserving natural skin texture. The eye makeup avoided heavy pigments, using subtle eyeliner to outline the shape alongside natural blush and lip color to project a healthy, radiant glow. Under intense studio lights, overly heavy makeup looks artificial, requiring meticulous attention to detail from the makeup artist. In terms of lighting, beyond the top light, we positioned a floor light sweeping across the reflective surface to brighten shadow zones, preventing the undersides of the ruffles from falling pitch-black and softening leg contours.

Poses were kept as relaxed as possible. Leaning back against the wooden folding chair, stretching my legs forward, resting weight onto the plush toy below, and wrapping both arms around the swim ring maximized the visual length of my legs. The gaze required no forced intensity—simply looking straight ahead or slightly tilting the chin conveyed that feeling of delightful weather where you just don't want to move. This low-angle perspective not only elongated body proportions, but also blended the subject harmoniously with the floor reflection. For an expanse of white space, controlling the lighting ratio is paramount; softbox placement had to be pinpoint-precise to ensure translucent skin tones while retaining shadow details on the fabric for a clean, luminous image. We avoided overly complex digital composites to preserve the raw, refreshing atmosphere.

The shoot also posed several minor challenges. For example, subtle wrinkles across the reflective flooring easily produced erratic highlights; poorly managed glare would make the frame appear messy. We tested multiple lighting angles, ultimately resolving it by adjusting light distance and adding diffusers to ensure the reflection appeared smooth and mirror-like. The heavy wooden barrel props required careful positioning for balance. The soft yellow cushion warped beneath my feet, demanding constant adjustments to where I placed pressure to maintain a flattering shape. Because this swimsuit features a relatively modest, everyday design, our posing direction emphasized effortless naturalness, allowing me to strike poses without guarded tension and immerse myself fully in the character's emotions.
