On April 7th, we went to Fukiage Park in Saitama for a photoshoot when the cherry blossoms were in full, magnificent bloom. The primary goal was to create frames infused with a serene Japanese vibe. The photographer had scouted the location beforehand with precise timing for lighting, choosing the golden hour right before sunset.
The golden light streamed in from the side, bathing the frame in a rich amber glow. We utilized quite a few setups with Low-angle composition; paired with the park's long outdoor staircases and rustic wooden railings, it accentuated the flared tiers of the skirt and graceful leg lines. Because the outfit design is agile and dynamic, we incorporated many lively movements, repeatedly catching shutter moments in the breeze with ribbon streamers and folding fan props. As the wind was brisk, the ribbons often tangled around my hands, so the photographer patiently guided my poses, helping untangle the streamers before snapping the shutter at the perfect instant.
The red lanterns in the park stood out brilliantly during the blue hour at twilight. Their warm amber glow contrasted with the cool cherry blossoms and darkening sky, creating a cinematic storytelling depth. Running up and down the stairs was physically demanding and left my calves aching, but seeing the final framing and lighting made all the effort worthwhile. Every photoshoot requires the perfect harmony of timing, location, and teamwork; beyond being grateful for clear, rain-free weather, I deeply appreciate the photographer's patient guidance. The costume and wig stayed pristine throughout, and I am thrilled with the fidelity achieved for Touhou Project in this Cherry blossom photography session.
