This official photoshoot set for Yuutenji Nyamu from BanG Dream! is finally retouched and ready to share! From the moment the costume arrived, I spent days contemplating how best to capture that dark, theatrical stage presence quintessential to Ave Mujica. The garment features remarkably rich layering: the base layer is a high-neck black-and-white striped blouse featuring sleeves made of semi-translucent glossy PVC material, which produces striking reflections under directional illumination. Because of this, I deliberately arranged two distinct lighting environments across daytime and evening.

During the day along stone staircases, the direct sunlight brought out a sharp, crisp profile in the monochrome stripes. By nightfall along the riverfront, relying on ambient streetlights and off-camera fill lights, the PVC sleeves took on a cool-toned, futuristic edge against the nightscape. The wig is a purple bob cut with blunt bangs, requiring precise face-framing trims. Paired with red contact lenses and crimson lip lacquer, the makeup centered primarily around the eyes to channel her enigmatic, punk-tinged charisma. For accessories, a ruby brooched pendant and multi-tiered pearl necklaces instantly drew the viewer's visual focus to the upper torso.

The underbust corset vest is solid black with crisscross lace-up sides that cinch the waistline tightly. The lower half consists of an asymmetrical red mini skirt layered over a sheer white ruffled underskirt for added depth. I coordinated it with gradient Black stockings and a crimson thigh garter strap—one of my absolute favorite details of this entire coordinate. The black stockings paired with the red strap visually elongated the legs under the night lights, complemented by patent black chunky-heeled loafers to stretch my silhouette.

Shooting on location was honestly a test of endurance, standing for hours in this ensemble and heels by the riverside. The greatest challenge in night photography lies in balancing ambient exposure: the photographer continually adjusted angles to prevent background light blowout while ensuring crisp facial illumination and garment texture clarity. To build a compelling variety of compositions, I cycled through numerous poses—crouching beside stone walls, leaning against riverside railings, and looking back over my shoulder beneath lampposts. The outdoor wind grew quite gusty, yet the dark river water and distant urban city lights created gorgeous background bokeh, giving me brief moments to unwind between takes. Outdoor shoots are an ongoing cycle of micro-adjustments: smoothing creases, steadying stray wig strands, and keeping vigilant. While ornate to look at, moving in this gear was far from effortless—especially in heels. Nonetheless, successfully bringing Yuutenji Nyamu's look to life brought a profound sense of accomplishment. In post-processing, we intentionally preserved the natural city light bokeh and the muted grey grit of the stone steps without aggressive skin-smoothing, striving to deliver an authentic, grounded documentary feel.
