The white breastplate section needed to fit snugly to the body, while the deep blue jacket bordered by pale blue piping and accented with gold buttons creates a very compact visual impact. The red armband on the left arm and the red bunny ears overhead serve as core visual focal points; stabilizing these two accents in front of the lens required plenty of prep time fine-tuning details. The texture of the belt and metal buckles stood out noticeably under the cool studio lights, meaning every pose adjustment required smoothing down the garment to avoid awkward creasing that could disrupt the shot.
The shoot took place in a studio rigged with an extensive lighting matrix, where the background metallic trusses and softboxes naturally lent a stern, sci-fi atmosphere. The photographer, Ruhua, handled lighting with exceptional skill, utilizing a shallow depth of field to melt the background lights into delicate bokeh spots, ensuring the subject remained prominent. For the first shot, I reclined sideways across a white plush rug with legs bent and raised. This pose not only tested core strength in my waist and abdomen, but also demanded maintaining an elongated line for the legs—especially the transition between the over-the-knee black stockings and the hem of the skirt, which required delicate micro-adjustments for balanced proportions. Gripping the sci-fi style prop handgun, I had to keep an unwavering, resolute gaze locked on the lens, taking several attempts to hit that most natural demeanor.
The standing stance in the second shot prioritized dynamic tactical presence. The right hand lifted palm-up while the left hand hung naturally holding the pistol—muzzle pointed down in accordance with standard safety discipline. The challenge of this pose lay in weight distribution; standing pin-straight would look stiff, so tilting my torso slightly added vitality to the frame. To complement this navy-and-white military-police aesthetic, I practiced my expressions specifically to project the character's calm, ever-ready supportive composure before the camera. Adapting to the grip and balance of the prop firearm was essential as well, especially while wearing gloves, where every finger joint's flex affected the authenticity of the posture.
Taking part in convention photos is a demanding test of stamina and patience. From putting on this intricate outfit in the morning to coordinating across various camera angles inside the studio, the entire process required intense concentration. Even for anime content creation, I strive to treat every shoot as a professional artistic endeavor—from the sleek smoothness of the wig and the longevity of the makeup to every individual button on the uniform, pursuing faithful accuracy. Discussing camera angles and lighting setups with the photographer between takes to refine composition made the focused workflow deeply fulfilling. Convention environments come with many unpredictable factors, but that is precisely what gives every shutter press its unique sense of presence.
Organizing the materials from these convention photos, the overall color grading and textural delivery matched our vision. Translating a character's flat 2D design into a three-dimensional visual reality is immensely rewarding.
