This shoot selected the gym uniform look of Kyoyama Kazusa from Blue Archive, setting the overall tone in a youthful indoor campus setting.
During early preparation, this Fat Cat Gymnastics uniform cosplay paired with black sports shorts and pure white thigh-high stockings visually elongates leg proportions. The pink halo above the bangs and black-and-red cat ears are the soul of the look, which, together with light wig trimming and red contact lenses, make it easier to capture her slightly smug yet lively expression on camera. Unlike glamorous stage outfits or armor, school-style athletic attire, while minimalist, demands higher control over body lines and posture. In this makeup styling, I intentionally softened the intensity of the eye makeup and chose a natural lip color to present an authentic campus girl look.
For the first set of photos, we shot beside a sports ball cart. The sense of spatial depth created by the metal railing was very comfortable, while scattered basketballs and volleyballs injected a vibrant athletic atmosphere into the frame. I tried resting half a foot on the edge of the ball cart, gently sinking into the pile of balls to form a natural, curled-up posture. Extending my hand forward in a frozen pose created a visual perspective of direct interaction with the camera lens. This slightly lazy pose was aimed at retaining the character's everyday relaxed vibe while utilizing spatial perspective to showcase the length and extension of the white stockings.
Next, we transitioned to the wooden desk area, adjusting my pose to kneel on the tabletop. This high-angle overhead shot beautifully displayed the overall lines of the uniform, while the white stockings showed rich texture under soft light, contrasting sharply with the dark shorts. Paired with a playful hand-on-hip pose, I hoped to convey the character's casual and natural side at school. The composition was centered to minimize background clutter, focusing the viewer's gaze on my upper body and leg extension. The fabric of the white gym uniform showed a refreshing, breathable texture under side-backlighting, recreating the crisp mood of slightly sweating after physical education class.
Finally, a standing pose in front of the lockers using corner framing served as the closing touch. Holding a water bottle, head tilted back slightly while leaning against the inside of a locker door, with a black skirt casually tied around my waist, created an after-school feeling of just finishing P.E. class. Capturing dynamic balance in front of simple classroom lockers helped keep body language fluid and unrigid. Lifting one leg was both lively and broke the monotony of a static standing pose, adding layers to my body language while emphasizing the details of the white stockings once more.
Environmental lighting during the shoot was crucial. As this was an indoor artificial light environment, I specifically adjusted the highlight ratios so the white clothing wouldn't turn into blown-out flat white, preserving the fabric's texture. To enhance the P.E. class ambience, the photographer used the classroom's depth to capture wide-angle shots that included the blackboard and wooden desks in the frame. Characters from Blue Archive naturally suit presentations in scenes filled with strong daily-life vibes. Overall, this shoot successfully captured the playful and tsundere qualities of Kyoyama Kazusa, conveying her inner personality through details and angles even in a simple School style cosplay setting.
