When I put on this outfit for my Lynette Cosplay on the day of the CICF Expo, the overall Cosplay outfit felt very true to the design language of the original work. The white corset has a quite structured silhouette, and the light blue bow on the chest creates a great layered contrast with the white lace choker at the collar. The skirt is the visual focus, cascading from pure white down to a refreshing teal. The fluffy skirt has excellent layers, showing an effect akin to rippling water when moving. The detached white ruffled off-shoulder sleeves add lightness to the upper body while beautifully framing the shoulder lines.
The large black bows on both sides of the waist serve as crucial visual anchors in the color palette of the overall costume, breaking up the plainness of a single color scheme and adding a touch of crispness. The extremely long gradient transparent streamer tied to the back flutters naturally with my movement while walking, looking highly dynamic especially under outdoor windy conditions. The mint green thin ribbon in my hand is also a prop. Utilizing it to pull out graceful curves or wrap around during shooting enhances the fluid movement and layers of the frame.
For the makeup, the light blonde wig was styled with layered trimming, keeping a moderate thickness for the bangs and adorned with small white flower accessories on both sides. The black star pattern on one side of the cheek is a key feature of the character's makeup, which, along with the eyeshadow and pink lips, kept the overall look refreshing and light, appearing very clean under outdoor natural light. The purple contact lenses also did a great job of restoring the character's eye color.
The shoot took place during the CICF Expo in Guangzhou, utilizing the nearby outdoor greenery and pathways for the session. The setting was carefully chosen; the roadside green belts and the tree canopy in the background provided excellent natural depth of field. For this outdoor photography, the photographer chose a low-angle shot, which elongated my body proportions. Paired with the light mint-green lace-up low heels, it made my overall figure look much more slender. It was around sunset during the shoot, often referred to as the \"golden hour.\" The sun shining from behind through the gaps in the leaves cast a gorgeous backlit rim light along my hair and costume edges, making the originally cool-toned cyan skirt appear translucent and soft under the sunlight.
For the pose design, we avoided overly rigid posing and instead tried to simulate the character's potential agile states. Examples include turning back from the side, twisting the shoulders, holding the ribbon with both hands to create curves, or even lifting the ribbon with one hand. This dynamic snapshot style required fast reactions from the photographer. Though it resulted in many outtakes, catching just one or two frames with a stretched posture and beautiful ribbon shapes brought out the storytelling of the entire image. The fluffy material of the skirt naturally flared out during spins, which, combined with the choker and shoulder bows, made for a pretty high success rate of shots.
This offline shoot at the CICF Expo is one of my more satisfying records of recent convention activities. The choice of costume fabric was quite breathable, so it didn't feel overly stuffy even in an outdoor environment, and the soles of the shoes were soft enough to support standing and walking for a long time. Under the real outdoor light and shadow, the overall look displayed an excellent texture. Without relying heavily on post-production lighting, the original light and color in the raw photos were already very comfortable. This is also why I wanted to share these photos on social media, hoping to convey the realism of this moment to everyone and let viewers feel what this design looks like in a real environment. The lively atmosphere of the convention venue and the quiet pathways outside formed a wonderful contrast, giving this set of photos a unique documentary feel, which is probably the unique meaning of offline convention photos.
