This line in the character setting inherently carries the crisp decisiveness of an Iron Blood soldier, and today's official photoshoot is one of the cosplay sets I've been most eager to share recently. Appearing as the Iron Blood Navy H-39 battleship—Ulrich von Hutten—brings this hardcore styling from fictional design into reality.
Regarding the makeup, styling, and costume, the core centerpiece is that black-and-orange-red Patent leather biker outfit. In photography, patent leather places heavy demands on lighting; with the slightest misstep, expansive glossy surfaces reflect distracting ambient glare, turning the sleek texture into a greasy mess. Thus, we deliberately avoided direct harsh flash on set, opting instead for dramatic high-contrast lighting. The angular cuts, cutout patterns, and crisscross lace-up details of the outfit were etched cleanly under the lights, not only preserving the character's iconic black-and-orange palette but also showcasing that distinct techwear edge and armored presence.
Next, let's talk about the studio chosen for this shoot. The set finalized by photographer @Pulao411 and me was an indoor space rich with Industrial wasteland style aesthetics. The massive metal exhaust fan in the background, the metal shutter door taking up nearly half the wall, stacked retro CRT televisions, and metal exhaust ducting and flight cases scattered in every corner seamlessly resonated with the cold, unyielding tone of the Iron Blood Navy. In particular, hidden red LED light strips along the top edges cast a dark red halo along the frame's perimeter; this moody ambiance formed a brilliant visual echo with the character's black-and-orange patent leather look. During shooting, we utilized a huge black-and-orange traffic barricade as a seat, serving both as a prop and as an excellent visual anchor, making the composition full and grounded.
The handheld black, white, and orange tricolor flag also took considerable preparation. The flag used non-reflective matte fabric printed with precise geometric star emblems, which, combined with a metallic flagpole, felt substantial in hand and heightened immersion. Beyond static posing, we experimented with dynamic captures of waving the flag and fluttering ribbon straps; paired with the orange accents on the patent leather gloves and the lanyard around the wrist, it retained the character's fierce sharpness while injecting dynamic tension into the frames.
The wig styling was another standout feature. Styled in a textured short shag with defined layers, the tips were specifically gradient-dyed with bluish-purple tones, topped with iconic orange horn accessories on both sides of the forehead. Combined with cool, slightly aggressive eye makeup, the character's formidable presence instantly came to life. Moving around the studio, adjusting high-heeled patent leather boots and stances, my abdominal lines were accentuated when raising my arms or leaning against the barricade, fitting the character's confident and decisive persona to perfection.
Of course, the shoot wasn't without its challenges. Patent leather creases easily, and broad movements or perspiration can leave noticeable marks, requiring us to shoot in short bursts and rest the garment to let it regain its smooth texture. Furthermore, maintaining an intense gaze and locked expression in such a hardcore industrial setting was physically demanding. Special thanks to the photographer's patient guidance on set—it was through mutual synergy that we found the most striking poses before the camera for this Anime-style photography set. This collection preserves both the character's hardcore charm and the signature Iron Blood Navy demeanor, and I hope this sharpness and cool capability can be conveyed through the screen to everyone who sees it.
