[Yunli Cosplay] Honkai: Star Rail, The Perfect Combo of Candied Haws and a Vintage Courtyard - Image 1

In the process of shooting the character Yunli from Honkai: Star Rail, the main focus was capturing her adorable, lively, and slightly \"foodie\" everyday moments. For this photoshoot, everything from hair and makeup to costume coordination was carefully considered to recreate highly detailed character elements while utilizing a specific ambient setting, showcasing her relaxed daily life rather than her battle state.

First is the attention to detail in styling. Short black hair with layered side bangs frames the face well, while the golden filigree crown adorned with blue and teal beads on top serves as the main visual center for the head. I specifically adjusted its wearing angle so that it looks ornate without being overly heavy. The small metal leaf hairpin in front is delicate and exquisite, remaining consistent with the overall costume style. To fit the character's personality, I discarded overly sharp or dark eyeshadow in favor of a warm orange palette for shading. This eye makeup, paired with natural lip color and subtle blush, conveys a lively, slightly childlike expression in front of the lens, while giving a healthy, glowing complexion under warm ancient-style lighting.

Next is the combination of outfit and props. The upper top features a high-saturation mix of white, teal, and orange-red, which really tests the lighting setup. The white inner garment needs to stay clean and crisp, while the teal and orange-red outer draped layers must show the fabric's subtle texture and drape, ensuring movements don't look rigid. For this shoot, I specifically chose intricate wrist ornaments featuring bead chains, metal plates, and edged designs. Whether holding candied haws or supporting my body while leaning on the floor, these details create rich visual focal points in front of the camera, adding layers to the photos. As for the candied haws in hand, it is truly the soul prop of this set. It's not only a highly memorable element of Yunli's character design, but it also beautifully balances the outfit's colors—the bright red hawthorns look crystal-clear, reflecting light off the sugar coating to instantly add liveliness and a sense of daily warmth to the entire frame.

In terms of scene concept and photography techniques, we chose a wooden indoor setting rich in traditional Chinese classical aesthetics. The rustic red-brown wooden floor, dark carved low table, and clusters of blue and white art floral arrangements behind form a highly textured corner of an ancient courtyard. For lighting, instead of harsh direct light, we used warm ambient lights behind the left side of the background to create a dusk-like light-and-shadow effect. This lighting layout allows shadows beneath the table and reflections on the floor to weave cool and warm tones, making the frame feel warm while bringing out the richness of the costume colors.

For the pose, we opted for a low camera angle lying prone and propped up. Compared to standing, lying on the floor better expresses the character's relaxed, playful, and slightly mischievous personality. At the same time, this posture nicely displays the cascading lines of the outfit from shoulders to waist. Naturally bending the legs upward from behind with bare feet exposing the ankles adds a touch of carefree ease. During the shoot, I tried looking straight into the lens with a slightly playful smile, striving to capture that cute \"baby food photography\" feel often talked about online—combining innocent sweetness with a hint of cleverness in her eyes.

Post-processing focused mainly on color saturation and skin clarity without using overly exaggerated filters that would ruin the original lighting texture, keeping the overall tone balanced between warm comfort and anime fantasy elements. This kind of photographic presentation isn't overly flashy and lets viewers immediately feel the effort put into recreating a living character. Being able to showcase Yunli's charm—seemingly tsundere yet pure, food-loving yet skilled in martial arts—through this set of photos was a truly enjoyable experience.
