[Tamamo no Mae cosplay] Elegant Interpretation Under the Blue Sky and White Architecture of Fate/Grand Order

The subject of this shoot was Tamamo no Mae from Fate/Grand Order. Set against the white Gothic architecture of the Migang venue, the pure blue sky backdrop left a deep impression on me. The construction of this costume is relatively complex: the main base is a black mini dress adorned with golden metallic cross-straps on the chest, while the sleeves and hemline feature light blue ruffled trims with a subtle glossy sheen. Paired with over-the-knee Black stockings, platform shoes, white Animal ears atop the head with a mini black top hat beside them, and a voluminous fluffy brown tail in back, the entire styling gained immense three-dimensional depth.

To align with the character's lively spirit, I chose light blue contact lenses paired with red lips and long eyelashes, contemplating during makeup tests how to make the gaze look more composed. The wig was a long pink wavy style that required considerable effort to cut and style, ensuring it draped naturally while complementing the headpieces without looking messy.

Photographer Huangzu had high standards for light and angles. Because it was daytime with white buildings and blue sky behind us, shooting against the light or slightly to the side easily created a pure, clean aesthetic. To find the right angle to capture the skirt flutter and leg lines, I repeatedly tested various sitting poses on the steps. For this kind of character, you need to display casual, relaxed postures while keeping the dynamic flare of the skirt in mind, so we shot poses sitting on the steps with legs parted, turning sideways to look back at the tail, and standing while holding a talisman. The standing shots in particular required finding a stable center of gravity, as platform shoes make ankle control tricky, and black over-the-knee stockings reflect glare easily in strong sunlight, demanding careful attention to stance angles.

This black outfit absorbed plenty of heat outdoors, but the light blue lace trims produced a translucent visual quality on camera that made the effort feel worthwhile. The close-up shot offering the talisman required being closer to the lens, demanding higher precision in facial expression control. Whenever doing Cosplay, the setting has a huge influence on conveying the character's persona; the pure white background and blue sky highlighted the playful nature of the Animal ears and tail, keeping the frame from feeling dull. After finishing the foundational poses, Huangzu suggested low-angle upward shots to elongate the silhouette, utilizing the architectural lines behind me as framing to give the overall image stronger visual impact.

Costume details were adjusted multiple times between takes to ensure the golden straps didn't shift when bending or turning. The combination of makeup, hair, styling, and props delivered a complete expression of the character's charm. Every attempt teaches something new, which is the true beauty of Cosplay photography.
