This time, I teamed up with Zumuzi to shoot the Azur Lane Takao and Atago cosplay photoset, spending a long time preparing from early planning to the actual location shoot. To match the overall temperament of the characters, we specially chose an all-white studio setting, decorated with Roman pillars, angel wings, and suspended flying bird props, emphasizing the character subjects and costume details within a pure, high-brightness environment.

For the clothing, we prepared two sets of white military-style uniforms. The jackets feature a double-breasted suit tailoring with golden chain decorations on the chest, and golden edges on the cuffs and collars. Under the pure white and high-brightness environment, the gold accessories easily reflected and overexposed, which brought quite a challenge to the on-site lighting setup. The photographer repeatedly adjusted the parameters of the key light and fill light to ensure the overall image was bright and transparent while preserving the texture of the fabric and metal parts.

Regarding props, we prepared two samurai swords with a black scabbard and a wood scabbard, which had a certain weight in reality. To strike a natural and tense sword-holding posture, it was necessary not only to control arm strength but also to coordinate with the core of the waist and back to stabilize the center of gravity, otherwise it would easily look rigid on camera. Holding props and posing for a long time indeed consumed a fair amount of physical stamina.

We did test makeup and trimming for the wigs and makeup beforehand. Both of us wore long straight black hair with blunt bangs; the animal ear styling required combing the hair texture to be fluffy and natural, and fixing them on the head at an angle that wouldn't easily reveal the seams. The eye makeup was mainly blended with red-brown tones, paired with red contacts to make the gaze look sharper. The lower body was paired with a white pleated skirt, black stockings, and high heels, using the strong visual contrast of black and white to modify the leg lines and body proportions.

During the shooting process, the duo's interaction required continuous refinement. From standing to sitting postures, the distribution of body center of gravity, shoulder alignment, and gaze drop points all needed to be polished bit by bit. The all-white scene lacked depth of field, so we relied on plush carpets, white bird cages, and other props to enrich the layering of the frame. While guiding the poses, the photographer also constantly reminded us to pay attention to expression control, ensuring that our state was on point when we shared the frame.

The flying bird props on the set were hung with transparent fishing line, and we had to be careful to avoid revealing the strings when adjusting positions. In addition, the wigs were prone to frizz under strong light, and the assistant helped comb them during every break between shots. The animal ears were also prone to shifting back and forth during shooting, requiring frequent adjustments in the mirror. The temperature inside the studio on the day of the shoot was actually not low, but for the sake of visual effects, we still needed to wear long-sleeved military-style jackets and thick black stockings. During breaks, we would quickly put on coats, touch up makeup, and fix our hair. To present the best state, we also looked at many reference poses before the shoot, discussing how to showcase the heavy texture of these two weapons. Especially when appearing in the same frame together, due to different sword-holding postures, the spatial distance between each other and the orientation of the blade had to be precisely calculated to avoid visual conflicts on camera. Being able to successfully complete this time is inseparable from the efficient cooperation of the entire team. After a whole day of shooting, although the physical stamina consumption was huge, being able to successfully complete this set of Takao and Atago cosplay works is the best reward for our early preparation and on-site efforts.
