For this Tamamo no Mae styling, the primary focus was on the soft eye color gradients and textured layered cutting of the wig. To faithfully recreate that iconic pink-haired fox persona, I poured immense care into wig styling. Pink hair can easily look frizzy or stiff if not handled properly, so I selected a blend of multiple pink fiber tones. After hand-sculpting, trimming, and setting, I achieved that signature feathered yet distinctly structured silhouette from the original design, ensuring ample volume and three-dimensional depth before the camera. The white plush ear accessories at the crown were also handpicked to heighten overall cuteness.
For colored contacts, I chose medium-diameter lenses in a luminous orange-yellow hue. This shade not only brightened my gaze but also revealed a translucent amber glow under studio lighting. To emulate exaggerated anime proportions in makeup, I focused heavily on enlarging the eyes. I blended warm-toned eyeshadow across a wide base, elongated and drooped the eyeliner noticeably at the outer corners, and paired it with dense, curled false lashes to make my eyes appear rounder and larger while preserving an innocent, doe-eyed expression. The foundation was kept porcelain-pale with a velvety matte finish, with blush applied slightly higher beneath the lower eyelids for a rosy flush, and a pink lip color complementing the hair tone to define a soft, full pout.
Regarding wardrobe, the garment features numerous subtle nuances. The black stand collar is very distinctive, accented with white linear patterns and circular decorative studs whose stark black-and-white contrast immediately catches the eye. To bring out the character's allure, I opted for an off-the-shoulder drape, which beautifully highlighted the neck, shoulders, and collarbones. During shooting, to convey the puzzled expression in the scene, I carefully controlled my facial muscles to strike a mildly dazed, slightly furrowed, yet deadpan look. The gaffer was fantastic: a front softbox rendered the skin silky-smooth, while rim lights flanking both sides carved crisp separation for the pink hair and body contours, preventing them from blending into the background.
The entire photoshoot was genuinely engaging—balancing stylized anime expression management with bodily poise, dropping the shoulders and lengthening the neck so postures looked poised and effortless. From color coordination to fine details, I did my utmost to honor the essence of the original character in this Tamamo no Mae look. I hope you all enjoy this set!
