The convention hall shots for Moria Ruruka are finally sorted out! For this shoot, we chose a venue featuring a black-and-white checkerboard floor set against an imposing industrial-style dome ceiling. This minimalist yet expansive setting served as the perfect foil to accentuate the intricate details and magical elements of the costume. The character design of Detective Precure! naturally weaves playful charm together with mysterious allure. In recreating the outfit, I placed special emphasis on textural contrasts: a black velvet-like bodice paired with a puffy pink skirt and golden trim created gorgeous depth under the lights. The black-and-yellow color-blocked block heels were an absolute highlight; pairing them with grey pantyhose Stockings not only sculpted the leg lines, but also formed a seamless color transition between the black and pink of the midsection, elevating the complete look.

The shooting process was honestly quite a workout. To project that weightless, floating magical sensation, I had to stay on tiptoe while constantly balancing my center of gravity on the pedestal, all while keeping my facial expression relaxed and effortless. The wand in hand and the drifting talisman scrolls were practical props that received floating visual effects in post-production, but during posing on set, I had to envision the trajectory of these trailing ribbons. Photographer Huanghun was remarkably professional with masterly control over light and shadow, harmonizing the venue's overhead structure and skylight natural illumination with artificial lights to render facial contours and fabric textures with exceptional translucency. The tilted Dutch-angle shot in particular looks like soaring flight, though keeping my core clenched was intense. Falling red petals and golden leaves were deliberate touches prepared in advance, which, combined with glowing colorful crystals, enriched the frame. Being able to leverage existing architectural geometry within such a noisy, bustling convention to create such atmospheric photography was genuinely thrilling.

To align flawlessly with the character, the wig was meticulously cut and styled, with the beast-ear headband and the forehead purple gemstone ornament adjusted to their most flattering angles. Makeup-wise, to emphasize an anime aesthetic, I applied purplish-pink eyeshadow dusted with fine shimmer, ensuring dimensional radiance even under intense convention spotlights. Convention lighting is notoriously chaotic; without dialed-in camera and light placements, shots easily look flat. These final frames retained high color saturation while preserving shadow details cleanly in the background. Raising a decently heavy wand with one hand while holding graceful, fluid poses before the lens was definitely a test of arm strength, but seeing the magical atmosphere fully realized made every ounce of effort worthwhile.

Another detail I adore in this set is the swirling halo of translucent pink streamers. The rune scripts printed on them were custom-made; to achieve a dynamic wrapping effect, we tested multiple tosses and anchorings on site. Because the industrial backdrop leans cool and rigid, incorporating radiant violet-blue crystals, hovering vintage grimoires, and scattered red petals and golden leaves breathed vibrant life and fantasy into the composition. Throughout the shoot, figuring out how to keep movements looking featherlight despite the heavy ruffled skirt was something I continually refined. The Dutch-angle composition boosted visual drama, but required leaning my weight toward one side to balance compositional tension. The black-and-white checkerboard floor offered tremendous perspective depth—with minor shifts in camera angle, it immediately evoked the sensation of being transported into an alternate dimension. The unspoken synergy with the photographer proved vital as well; often a subtle glance or micro-adjustment was all it took to elevate the cinematic storytelling of a frame to the next level.
