The hall shots from this Fuzhou RN Comic Con are finally sorted out. To achieve great results in such a complex convention environment, quite a bit of preparation went into it beforehand. This outfit is heavily layered: a brown form-fitting inner base with jacquard patterns, overlaid with a red-and-white dress and wide detached sleeves. The golden beast-head metallic accessory at the waist is quite heavy, but its texture is exceptional, catching the ambient venue lights with a striking luster. To prevent the layers from shifting or coming loose while walking around the hall, I used plenty of snaps and safety pins for internal fastening, ensuring both a crisp silhouette and total peace of mind while posing.
The head styling was another major highlight. To capture the character's signature look, I chose a deep brown wig with red highlights. The temperature at the convention was fairly high that day, so to keep the wig from sticking to my scalp after sweating, I padded the inside with a hairnet and crimped the crown to boost volume. The plush fox ears on top were doubly secured using bobby pins and a headband, and the white fluff inside looked very natural under intense lighting. For makeup, the green contact lenses were the finishing touch; to give my gaze more penetration in front of the lens, I accentuated the eyeshadow at the outer corners, which, combined with bold red lips, conveyed a lively yet subtly cunning Foxian charm.
For props, I prepared a folding fan patterned with green and orange geometric motifs. This fan proved incredibly versatile during posing. In crowded, noisy convention halls, finding clean light while avoiding photo-bombers is always the photographer's biggest challenge. We searched for dimmer corners and utilized the venue's spotlights to illuminate my face. The slight half-squat pose in the second photo was tailored to complement the high side-slit cut of the dress. Veiling half of my face behind the fan heightened mystique while drawing visual focus straight to the eyes. Using the fan to make gentle stroking or half-masking gestures kept the frames dynamic and infused a stronger storytelling feel.
The biggest difference between hall shots and studio sets lies in the unpredictability of lighting. Many of these shots relied on the convention center's overhead lights or side spotlights; while less controllable than a studio setup, they added an authentic live-event atmosphere. Throughout the session, I adjusted my movements according to the weight and texture of the garments—for example, because the sleeves were quite voluminous, I made sure raising my arms wouldn't obstruct my face, and because of the skirt's rich layers, turns had to be gentle to keep the fabric from bunching up.
These hall shots captured so many wonderful moments, striving to bring the character to life from costume details to posed nuances. I hope these photos allow everyone to feel Tingyun's distinctive charm, and my heartfelt thanks go to the photographer for the fantastic captures.
