[Phainon & Cyrene Cosplay] Return to the Original Aedes Elysiae, Where Destiny Will Find Us No More

When bringing up the story of Phainon and Cyrene, what always comes to mind are those bonds forged in gaming against destiny. For this shoot, my partner and I implicitly agreed on the tagline "Return to the original Aedes Elysiae, where destiny will find us no more" as the foundational tone. To faithfully recreate this atmosphere, we skipped indoor studio setups and headed straight to an ecological park on the city's outskirts, lugging bags of gear and equipment.

Honestly speaking, Phainon's armor set was even heavier than I anticipated. Layer upon layer of gold-trimmed white armor, along with that iconic star-emblem shoulder badge, every detail was the result of meticulous hand-crafting. By contrast, moving through the woods with my short pink hair and flowing purple-and-white robe was much more liberating, though to maintain the garment's structure, the gold starburst pendant with a blue gem at my waist kept catching on tree branches while climbing. To overcome this hurdle, we fine-tuned the tension of several straps, which became a small episode during our shoot.

That pose hanging on the tree in the photos was actually shot multiple times. To ensure a natural and vivid expression while controlling my center of gravity to avoid sliding down, my core was engaged almost the entire time. I originally wanted to convey a playful and relaxed state, but my white strappy sandals were extremely slippery on the tree bark, forcing me to grip the rough trunk firmly with my toes. The side-profile framing with Phainon standing beneath the tree was designed to emphasize his steady yet sharp presence. His hand-on-hip pose looked handsome and suave, but in reality he got bitten badly by mosquitoes that day, forcing us to constantly spray insect repellent during breaks.

Throughout the shoot, we kept a strobe light running to overpower the top light filtering through the leaves, ensuring the texture of each wig displayed its most natural hair flow under outdoor light conditions. My partner and I achieved seamless coordination on this day during Outdoor location photography. The photographer cleverly used tree trunks as framing composition lines, where the high-and-low dual positioning echoed the character dynamics, subtle status contrast, or interactive perspectives within the storyline. Occasional breezes rustling through the leaves cast dappled light and shadow onto hair strands and armor—a natural sense of dynamic realism impossible to replicate in a studio.

Although makeup and styling melted quite a bit in the high temperatures, seeing the final finished photos made every bit of effort worth it. This was my most satisfying shoot this summer. During shooting, I didn't even have time to overthink the backstory lore, simply immersing fully into the identities of "Phainon" and "Cyrene," conversing and interacting amidst lush green surroundings. A set of armor, a pink wig, and a single line made me feel that for a brief moment, we truly escaped reality and returned to that place called Aedes Elysiae. Professional refinement paired with expressive synergy made this dual cosplay experience full of pleasant surprises and unspoken chemistry.
